Vols football appears to be working black into school colors.

I have friends on the team and they've told me that the team has black jerseys that they've never worn.

Are you talking about the basketball team or football team? I've heard that the basketball team has black jerseys and are thinking about bringing them out this weekend in the SEC tourney.

Heck, I don't think it can hurt. I mean considering our past luck in the tourney it might be a good thing.

What's the point of having orange and white as our main colors if they are going to start wearing black jerseys, whether it be football or basketball.
GO BIG BLACK???

The emergence of black does not mean the end of orange. We are still the Big Orange regardless of which color is predominant on a uniform.

Personally I don't like the "add black" thing but if they decide to go with it, my world isnt goin to end. I just hope they don't pull of an Oregon ducks and make like 100 alternate jerseys.

97 percent of which are awful.

Please don't say "orange on orange" out loud. Are you trying to live up to your signature?

Okay, I understand alot of people don't like change, but trust me Tennessee has or will have alternative jerseys in basketball (already have black warm-ups). I don't know whether they will be black, grey or pink. Most schools these days have three uniforms they wear throughout the year in b-ball. The alternative jerseys will be worn at most three times a year, so it won't become an overhaul of our true colors. UT will always be orange and white.

These alternative jerseys will help revenue and recruiting which are two big things in college atheltics. If the powers to be decide that alternative jerseys will significantly help these two things then there is nothing that you or I can do.

Baseball already has black unis and basketball is sure to follow. Looking at alot of what the football team wears in practice and what the coaches wear it looks like the football team will follow, too. I think Fulmer likes the look of the black, but I'm not he has the overall authority to get that done. Plus, it's easier to wear a black alternative jersey in basketball b/c our road unis are orange and nobody would really care too much what we wear on the road. In football the home unis are orange thus making it much harder to go against tradition and bring out black unis in front of a home crowd.

Personally I think black jerseys in football would be awesome for a neutral site game like a bowl game (smaller bowl of course, not a BCS bowl) or an away game that we buyout and play at LP field in Nashville. Maybe like Marshall in a few years if we buyout their home game (as long as it's late in the year, black unis would be too hot early). I don't think I would like black unis in Neyland and I don't that would ever happen. I could see them at neutral site games in the future though.

Black jerseys with white numerals outlined in orange with white names would look awesome with our white pants with the double orange stripe IMO.

Very K-Mart.

I actually meant to say black jerseys with orange numerals outlined in white with white names.

Maybe it will look very K-mart and it will probably never happen in football, butI would prepare yourself for black b-ball unis this weekend or in the next year or two.

I'll just say this. Down here in Memphis Coach Cal and his boys have come out on the floor with a black basketball uni. Personally I think they look crappy and don't look right since they aren't the school color. A lot of older fans also are expressing displeasure but the younger folks don't seem to mind which enforces the "traditionalists" versus "why not try something new" contingent argument. Either you're a supporter of tradition or you're not. Make up your mind which side of the fence you're on because you can't have it both ways.

This is very rough paint job (hard to do on a laptop), but just thought I would see what the black jerseys would look like.

The best home jerseys ever. I think when orange is the dominate color, black doesn't belong, therefore I'd be for a black version of this:

Personally I like the look of the black uniform. It is at least something different. Dont get me wrong I HATE Oregon and their 1,000 different uniform combinations but at least they keep it interesting. Tennessee needs to do something weither it be black jerseys or orange pants something to break up the plain jersey look. Sometimes I think we begin to look to much like Penn State who has the most boring uniform set in football history. We need to do something like we did a few years ago with the throwbacks to break the monotony of plain orange with plain white numbers on plain white pants and then white with a different shade of plain orange numbers on plain white pants.

i'd be interested to see what they're trying to make the jerseys look like as a whole. if they just changed the orange to black i wouldn't like it, but if they did it and made the whole uniform look good i might support it. i love orange though. i think selling all this black apparel to the fans is stupid. neyland would look silly as a black/orange/white mix. i love walking in that huge bowl of orange on saturdays and seeing nothing but an orange monster. but we'll see. i wouldn't mind seeing the bball team try out the black jerseys.

I was at Sports Seasons the other day and saw a black Ramar Smith jersey. I had heard a lot of stuff about them and didn't think I would like them, but they didn't look that bad. That being said, our colors are orange and white and we need to stick with those and use black for an outline color when it is needed.

I just wish it was the same shade of orange when you walked in Neyland.

true. i just think all of this talk about new jerseys is senseless. that's something you do when your team is in a slump and you need some new burst of fire to help ignite your team again. we definitely don't need that. plus it takes the focus off of the field, which is where 100 percent of the focus should be.
