What's the point of having orange and white as our main colors if they are going to start wearing black jerseys, whether it be football or basketball.
GO BIG BLACK???
Okay, I understand alot of people don't like change, but trust me Tennessee has or will have alternative jerseys in basketball (already have black warm-ups). I don't know whether they will be black, grey or pink. Most schools these days have three uniforms they wear throughout the year in b-ball. The alternative jerseys will be worn at most three times a year, so it won't become an overhaul of our true colors. UT will always be orange and white.
These alternative jerseys will help revenue and recruiting which are two big things in college atheltics. If the powers to be decide that alternative jerseys will significantly help these two things then there is nothing that you or I can do.
Baseball already has black unis and basketball is sure to follow. Looking at alot of what the football team wears in practice and what the coaches wear it looks like the football team will follow, too. I think Fulmer likes the look of the black, but I'm not he has the overall authority to get that done. Plus, it's easier to wear a black alternative jersey in basketball b/c our road unis are orange and nobody would really care too much what we wear on the road. In football the home unis are orange thus making it much harder to go against tradition and bring out black unis in front of a home crowd.
Personally I think black jerseys in football would be awesome for a neutral site game like a bowl game (smaller bowl of course, not a BCS bowl) or an away game that we buyout and play at LP field in Nashville. Maybe like Marshall in a few years if we buyout their home game (as long as it's late in the year, black unis would be too hot early). I don't think I would like black unis in Neyland and I don't that would ever happen. I could see them at neutral site games in the future though.
Black jerseys with white numerals outlined in orange with white names would look awesome with our white pants with the double orange stripe IMO.
