One step closer to West Virginia! Glad these guys got the opportunity to scrimmage and show some progression from practice. I like how Pruitt keeps reiterating competition too, I think that keeps every guy on the roster engaged and wanting to play at a high level cause they know they can earn PT.

Thanks Freak!!
I like how he is very realistic and straightforward. We can feel confident he is trying to develop them.

I do have a question.. he said McBrode played a lot with the two and had a solid camp. Is it possible McBride could compete for the starting slot or is it given he is the backup??

You can tell he came up under Saban. No BS, and usually no concrete answers. I like it. I don't want to know the QB until he trots out on the field 9-1.
Yea...running backs rush for 500 yards, Pruitt...we got to do better, we struggled
Tennessee 50
The other team 0
We struggled...got to do better.
Quarterbacks throw for 500 yards...Pruitt, we struggled, got to do better out there.
Defense shuts out 12 teams, holds them to no scores. Pruitt...we got to do better
Wins the National Championship: 💥👍😂👀👌😎Next year, we have to get better. We struggled with everything, but so proud of this team. Love the Tennessee fans, but next year they have to fill Neyland Stadium for the spring game. Hollow louder during games, and need more noise.
Point being: sounds just like Nick Saban doesn’t it?

Yep. This is the difference between a good coach and a GOAT. No better example than Pat; she pushed for excellence every moment of the year, coached when we were destroying teams like we were down by 20. And we dominated because of it. Hope Pruitt is the same.

Thank you for the update. Biggest concern for me were the interceptions and QBs not getting the ball out soon enough. At some point in time, these issues need to be fixed.

But if a QB was throwing INTs ... wonder who were the DBs (or LBs) snaggin em?

I just don't see that unless we have a lot of injuries. If we get to that point, just like last year, we're in trouble

I'm just glad to see this being posted, thanks Freak... Another day closer! All we can do is out our "football faith" in the coaches hands and hope for a marked improvement.

Heck, I'm going to have to pull up our Game Day Recipe Posts, it's Time!

Go Big Orange

Probably because JG and Chryst were with the 1s

I liked this

With every position I hope I have players – whether they play quarterback, defensive tackle, punter or long snapper – I hope their number one goal is to not be the starter at Tennessee. I hope that is not their goal,” Pruitt said. “That is not much of a goal in my opinion. I hope their goal is to be the best player in their position out there.”

I think that is a champion mentality. MJ never thought about starting. He thought about being the best basketball player that was on the floor, every game. That is the mentality that drove Barnett to outwork every player on the roster, and lack of it that kept Da'Rick Rogers from getting drafted.

2 things that I gathered from Pruitt's pc. 1. These players are working their butts off for Pruitt. 2. They seem happy with what they are seeing from the newcomers.

I really hope we get to see Shrout in mop up duty in 4 games this year. I believe next falls QB battle might be even tighter than this one. That is with my assumption that JG has it locked down this season.

This comment concerning because it seems to be a carry over from last year.

We need to do a better job of protecting the quarterback and the quarterback has to do a better job of getting the ball out of his hand.

I like his comment on freshmen showing ability, reaffirming their recruiting analysis, and seemingly being able to run the ball.

He has had some very good teachers. I expect him to continue to use what he has learned from his past positions. If he does, we will be very happy with our football team in the future.

Is being able to run the ball a double edged sword for this Vol squad, after all, the defense couldn't stop the clapp last year, just thinking aloud, but.........
Go Vols

Well I said possibly Taylor as a high possibility, but it looks like per Grid Iron now it was Thompson picking off Chryst and Flowers picking off JG.
