Vols Back in Top 10

Somehow I imagine that if we lose, we will plummet in the polls. Even though Louisville only dropped 5 spots. We could lose to two top 10 teams and we will be voted out of the top 25 lol

Agree. And their win over FSU, even though it was a beat down, isn't looking as good

I have a complaint and I also have a comment. Complaint: We are 4 - 0, yet Louisville is ranked ahead of us. Why????????????????? Comment: Should we beat # 7 A & M, we will climb in to the top #5.

We are 5-0 for starters. Secondly, why? Watch Louisville play, that's why. They're a better team then us right now. Simple.

The fact Washington and Louisville are still ahead of us and Clemson's win against Louisville didn't jump them ahead of OSU bothers me. That being said we gotta get our stuff together. these first 5 games were exciting to the end that must be said but this crap has to stop.

Looking at all our games had our offense not shot itself in the foot constantly in the first half all these games would have been blowouts. We have left 14-21 points on the field in the first half of EVERY game so far this year. and about 7 in each 3rd quarter.

It looks like its a game of adjustments and something special is happening in the locker room each game at halftime. i get the halftime adjustments by coaches.. Those are awesome and I love it but execution needs to be there from the first kickoff. I love the fact that these guys are not scared to be backed in any corner but against aTm and Bama that won't work. We let one of those teams get up 14 much less 21 in the first half its pretty much over.

If we beat Texas A&M we would definitely jump Louisville, so there is no reason to really complain about anything. Just win.

Vol fans had better enjoy being ranked in the top 10, because it won't last long if the Vols don't play better:hi:

Why shouldn't Washington be ranked ahead of Tennessee?

Look. We aren't going to the playoffs this year baring another miracle (which seems normal for this team). However, ranking doesn't matter. Win the East. Play for an SEC championship. that is what matters right now. Let the polls be the polls.

That's really close - but I think that margin will be larger in the AP and we'll still be 9

If we find a way to beat TAMU then I think we're in the discussion

It will be interesting to see if Bama goes undefeated and we beat TAMU and then beat Bama for the SEC championship who gets the playoff spot(s). Potentially both of us get in, but I think Bama would get the slot over us if it went down like that.

2 teams from the same conference will never be in a 4 team playoff. I don't care what the scenario is, I don't care who the teams are. It will not happen. The playoff committee was designed to make sure it never happens. The 1 loss team that wins the SEC gets in.

the only team in history to win their first 5 games and be in the same place in the poll as they started.

Hate to be that guy but tons of teams that started the poll at #1 and went 5-0 and still sat at #1.

A one loss SEC champion would be in the playoffs in my opinion

Not likely, imo. Anything can happen in college football, of course, but take a look at the remaining schedules of the teams ahead of us.

All Vols fans know that pollsters favor the Big Ten. Even with one loss, either Michigan or Ohio State will be favored over us.

Louisville is this year's media darling. The only team that has a shot at them the rest of the way, imo, is Houston and I don't see that happening. A one-loss Louisville is already ahead of us in the polls and even though they are likely not even going to make the ACC playoff, pollsters are still going to favor them over us if we have one loss. They already have in the coaches poll.

It looks like Clemson might run the table the rest of the way, including the ACC championship game against what projects to be North Carolina.

Anything can happen, but Washington has nobody left on their schedule that should be a challenge? Oregon? Nope. Cal, maybe, but nope. WSU? Again, maybe, but nope. Besides the media also favors the PAC.

That leaves a one-loss Vols team at no higher than fifth and on the outside looking in.

The Vols are going to have to run the table, imo.

Just when I thought I understood where the polls would go, this happens!
I was positive Georgia would go up in the rankings because they played the #11 team so close and we would go down in the rankings because Georgia played us so close and we suck and lucked out
!

^^^this. I already heard them spinning how Louisville with one loss deserves playoff. This was from Herbstreat this morning. Said as good as they are playing they shouldn't drop more than a few spots and if they win out and not even play in acc championship they deserve playoff. Who else do they play? Houston is it isn't it?

What's funny is we started the season ranked 8th or 9th, I believe. We had to win 5 straight games, including 3 against ranked teams, just to maintain that ranking. just have to keep winning.

I have 2 scenarios for consideration and would love opinions on them.
1) we lose to a&m and bama and then we win out and beat bama in the seccg.
2) we win all regular season games but lose to bama in the seccg.
What would our chances be of making the playoff in these 2 scenarios? All feedback is appreciated!
