I’m sure it’s been said but being behind those teams does not mean our name is competing with those teams. The perception of our program is still in repair.

I learned tonight that my 7 year old nephew literally doesn’t even know who Tennessee is. We were talking about LSU, MSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Clemson and I was trying to explain that I’m a Tennessee fan and he was like “Is that the same as LSU?” I’m like no LSU is LSU and Tennessee is Tennessee and he says “yeah but who are they? Are they Ole Miss? I’m so confused”. Tennessee does not even exist to him. We have work to do.

A&M 13 Georgia 19 Tennessee 14 Georgia 43
A&M 28 Bama 47 Tennessee 13 Bama 35

Against common opponents, A&M played a little better. They also didn’t lose to Ga State or BYU.

Having more to get talent will benefit them more in the future. They are the youngest team in the nation.

And I’m not speculating on Harrison Bailey or any other specific QB. Just generally speaking, in college, I think a mobile QB helps cover up some deficiencies. But FTR, it’s pretty foolish to bet on a true Fr vs 5th yr Sr returning starter

Yes one does. A QB that is fleet of foot is great for an offense with deficiencies as we had so many in the early butch years and Dobbs bailed us out alot.

Talking about "Hitting the nail on the head"!! I've said it before, but, here it goes again, The Only bad thing about Dobbs was, he kept boy butch from being fired a lot sooner than he was.

Watching Texas A&M and I don't think they are as good as our Vols. I'd say that both teams are pretty evenly matched but I think we are better than them at nearly every position group on both sides of the ball thus we are 6 and A&M/Kentucky are competing for the 7th spot!!

Where will we be rated in the conference this time next season? I'm going to go with 3rd best next year behind Florida and AL but ahead of Ga, LSU and Auburn. Kentucky has a good program with Stoops going right now as well I feel.

I'm pretty sure we aren't competitive with them yet. We're not as good as Texas A&M yet either

Don't know what bottle you are drinking from, But I am torn between demanding you pass it over, or being afraid to sniff it. Viewing A&M below us at this point is a wishful thinking stretch. At best, we are fortunate to be middle of the totem pole, below LSU, Ga, Fl, Auburn, Bama, and A&M. Definitely above Mizzou, Kentucky, Carolina, MsSt, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and the Chokodores. At least we are cracking the top half for the preseason considerations and projections at 7th.

As to where we are viewed this time next year? That depends on how many guys coming in strengthen those returning. Comparing that list to the list of those outgoing (still not sure Trey Smith is on it), I feel they are better filling spots than before. I see 3 or 4 of these guys pushing to start. But a bunch of question marks: TE and WR are big ones. Wood-Anderson, Callaway and Jennings will be gone. RBs should be better. QB? Hell, who knows? Much depends on whatever late signings come in. I've learned not to get my hopes up with this program. If they are on the right course, and we see considerable improvement? Anything is possible, but I predict they end up 4th or 5th best. Even though I don't think they get 3rd or above, I hope I am wrong.
