Vols #1 [Vols officially #1 in CFB Playoff ranking]

part of me wants to be #1 and the other part of me wants us to be #2 so we have more motivation when we play Georgia (rather than give them the lower ranking with something to prove)

If the players are not motivated by being number one, I don't think they could be motivated. We have come a long ways, I thought an 8-4 or 9-3 would have been a successful season.

Nobody has answered this though: How are we going to sleep for the next 3 nights?

Ruminate on the Kentucky game and how we absolutely manhandled Levis and the boys. Think about how they didn’t score in quarters 2 - 4. Focus on their 200 yards of total offense. Go watch the game again as you doze off the sleep.

YOU’RE WELCOME!

I'm so glad you're still one of us, cgrish, despite the Pruitt fiasco. Congratulations on Brandon making the Broncos' practice squad. Sounds like he's turned some heads out there in Denver.

Just saying, Georgia is the best D you've seen, yes, better than Bama... plus, we won't commit all those ridiculous penalties.
"WE"??? Are you on the team? Are you a coach? Do you fetch Kirby's coffee & Little Debbie's at lunch? You don't know sheet about what UGA will or won't do Saturday. Go troll Vandy's site.

I would agree with that. I think Georgia's secondary is easily the best in the country... and they have depth.

Now, having said that, it's just as true that Tennessee will be the best offense that Georgia has faced so far, and we finally have our full compliment of weapons available. When it comes right down to it ... I welcome being a 2 score underdog to a team with a QB as ordinary as Stetson Bennett. Although, I'm sure Bowers will put up big numbers.

Should be interesting.

True and as good as bennett is, he's nowhere near as elusive as Bryce young and being able to make something out of nothing.

The offense is head and shoulders above anything UGA has seen as well. Its gonna be a crazy match.

I was thinking about what schools have been number one in the CFP rankings. Here is the list and the number of weeks:

Alabama 23
Clemson 8
LSU 3
Mississippi State 3
Ohio State 3
Georgia 2
Tennessee 1

I had forgotten that Miss St was number one. It seems crazy that more blue bloods have not held the top spot. No USC, no Michigan, no Texas, no Oklahoma.

And for reference, these are the top 10 programs in wins:

1. Michigan 984
2. Ohio State 950
3. Alabama 949
4. Notre Dame 934
5. Oklahoma 933
6. Texas 933
7. Penn State 915
8. Nebraska 911
9. Tennessee 864
10. USC 863

So three out of ten have held the top spot in the CFP era.

My goodness I wish my dad was alive to see this. No way he would have believe where we are 2 years after he passed. No telling how we finish but I never imagined as a lifer.

🏀We would win the SEC basketball tournament.
⚾️Have the 1 baseball team.
🏈Now this made our way to #1 in the playoff rankings.

It is all surreal. I literally am teared up. I am so thankful to have landed Josh Heupel. Win or lose this Saturday I am so amazed and darn proud of the entire health of Mens athletics at the University of Tennessee.
Same here. My dad passed in June, we went to a lot of good games to see UT struggle. Penn state outback bowl comes to mind

Ok folks less then 24 hours away. For the first time we matter in this discussion.

UPDATE:

#1vs #2 ----Ohio State haven't played anyone to be #2, it's a move for the Big Ten to not make make noise about being #3, but GoVols and hope we bring our best A game to Athens knowing that's everything is against them!!!

yea, apparently it's not that big of a deal since we are only giving up 10 points a game.

definitely, need to get pressure on Hooker.

Fortunately, it looks like our best defense player (Jalen Carter #88) will be a fully healthy for the first time this season.
First off, troll. Secondly, Carter who? He has done nothing this year, so he'll be exposed as the over hyped player he is, like Levis and Anderson have been this year. All this talk by the Georgia fanbase about "they won't be within 21...", even though they couldn't doing it against Kent State. Then there's Missouri, and Florida....

Just stop it. You've outed yourself, we know you won't be here after the game if you lose like that Kentucky moron who also started his account before the Kentucky game. Hang on to those wins you have, because they'll be your consolation prize this year after you fall off the rails Saturday. Carter's draft stock is gonna plummet, your secondary will be torched by Hyatt, and Kirby is gonna be screaming on the sideline by the end of the first quarter. "They haven't played anyone..." Were on our way to tax that ass, just like everyone else. Unlike Georgia, we have wins against multiple ranked teams, more than the ACC have combined.
