@VolNExile

Sorry sorry!

Spring is around the corner, and I’m all up in the gardening and choir and chorus and something something stuff.

I’ll register on the Zone absence thread, or whatever it’s called, if I can find it

🍅 🥕 🌶 🫑 💐
You gonna show @Behr how to grow peppers this spring and summer?

Oh hell no. Even if he asked 🤪, I have no idea about his climate. I read something earlier this evening about gardening in Florida, and they didn’t do peppers (and tomatoes and squash etc) until fall, because summer was too hot. Back in 2019, I think, we had two separate spells in JUNE with temps in the 40’s. Tomato fruit won’t set if there is a 50-hour spell with air temps under 55. Prob much the same with peppers.

IIRC, his death peppers did take off in late fall. I’m too weenie for them. Look what I ordered!!! All the flavor, but no heat. Mock on, NGAF:

I am coming out of hibernation.

Also, I have been jet-lagged for two freakin‘ weeks, and it’s making me crazy. Lucky to get to sleep by 1-2 a.m.
I’ve got an older cook that comes off a cruise this weekend and told me she could work Monday. That’s not happening, he!!, I know I couldn’t do it. I need at least 3 days. 🤣

What makes me crazy is that for the first 4-5 nights in Cali, I was asleep by 9:30-10 and up before 6. I only shifted to Pacific time the last few days. And now I’m paying.

When I was 17, I used to fly nonstop from Honolulu to DC (BWI airport) (in a one-aisle 707, which was like 11 hours or something, God help us) and bounced back the next day. But now, I am Old. 😢

My 22 year old self could do blah blah all day at college, jump in a car and drive over several states for a day and a half, then crash at a friends house for 30 mins. and then go the rest of the way. Thank God, those days are over.

I’m glad you’ve found time to post 🙂

707? Isn’t that what the Wright brothers flew?

Lol, pretty much.

Although to add perspective, when we moved to Hawaii in 1967, there weren’t 707’s yet, at least on Cal-Hawaii routes. So we sailed from LA, then San Francisco on the SS Lurline (formerly the SS Monterey) 5 days and 4 nights, steaming into Honolulu Harbor greeted by outrigger canoes, leis thrown into the water, and locals diving for coin tips tossed overboard. It was quite an experience for a 12-year-old.

Moved to W. Palm right out of school. Would leave work at 3 on Friday, drive to Knoxville to see GVG, then back in the car noon Sunday and work Monday morning. Thank the lord it was only for 9 months. 73k miles in one year on my brand new 626.

And only twice a month.
