Vol Targets Wavering?

If they are wavering to FSU, it follows that team success is a high priority for them. We're probably not strategically positioned.

Or a high expectation with literally no success. We have no depth and have had VERY bad luck with injuries. FSU has had issues too but they have a perceived solid depth at their key positions. Its expectations that is the difference. We are building and they are supposed to be built for this year. I forgot who said it(I think Bullard) that Dooley told him to watch certain part of the game to prove why we need him and Bullard(?) said Dooley was spot on. That might be the difference perhaps?

We lost a lot of games last year and didn't lose a single recruit.

It was also dooleys first year. In second year, it may be worse than the first, because of injuries. Im just saying that the guys we have now, understand that PT is at a premium. Plus the OP said that FSU players are re-thinkin their commitments. Why would they consider Tn? Seems like those kids are not liking the fact that FSU is on a losing streak. The thought of them being a Top-10 preseason team has lost its luster. You will probably see more recruits leave FSU as the year goes along.

I wasn't saying that FSU commits are going to be standing in line to come to UT. I agree with you that is unlikely, although Shanks is a possibility since he's been to UT a couple times this year and his cousin is married to a staff member. I was pointing out to you (since you said if UT gets beat badly by Bama and loses to USCe and Ark we might lose some commits) that we got beat badly last year by a few teams and lost a lot of games and still didn't lose a commit. Dooley isn't selling what FSU is selling.

These current UT commits are well aware that the program wasn't going to win the SEC this fall, they know it's another year or so before that can happen. They're being sold on being apart of the class that gets the team over the hump with enough talent to win an SEC championship and of course early playing time if earned. From following recruiting pretty closely my opinion is that we won't lose a single commit that we currently have. It's possible, of course, I just don't think it's likely. JMO

Brother, I hope your rite, from what Ive read and seen, I like all the recruits that are coming in. They have the potential to get us back to where we belong. The LB's especially look like a "special" group. They have all the skill sets to do something special at UT. Now, I wouldnt mind stealing some recruits from Ole FSU. That Shanks kid looks like a good one too.

There is a big difference between our way of recruiting and Florida states way of recruiting this year though. If you read quotes from their commits at the time they committed you can tell that they were sold on the fact that Florida State was right there and ready to compete, which this year has not shown to be the case. On the other hand Dooley has been upfront and honest with recruits about the fact that we have a ways to go still. You can tell this by the comments of all of our visitors and recruits, as it did not come as some shock to them that we were not able to be competitive for the whole game (See Danny Obrien’s comments). As far as the recruits switching comment, it could very well be that now that both programs appear to be rebuilding, Tennessee could be the preferred of the two rebuilding programs especially in positions would offer more playing time. This especially appears to be the case with Justin Shanks.

I agree, I like this class very much. The staff is going to close real strong with some elite talent too. Definitely a top 10 class.

If you really are Chad Clifton as you have implied, I am sure that DD would be more than glad to take your call and discuss the program. He would also probably really appreciate any help you could give to recruiting, or in working with our really young OLmen. Looks to me like if you really are CC, you would have a lot of better things to do regarding the UT program, than sit around posting on a free fan message board.:salute:

I agree with what you're saying. FSU has been selling the idea that they are back. They've had a few good recruiting classes and everyone thought this year would see their return to the top. Despite the talent, they've failed on the field. Dooley's selling the idea of helping UT return to greatness. He's not sugar-coating it. Recruits know the state of the program. They know they have a chance to come here and play. Recruits see what we have on the field and they know it's true. The appeal to come here is completely different than FSU.

That's interesting. James Franklin mentioned he took a recruit to dinner after that game and I wondered which recruit that would be. I'd say Pender fits that profile.

The past two games have been important recruiting weekends, but I have not heard much from the recruit after the game. I know we lost, but I still expected to hear more from them. Collins and Kirven were two guys I really hope we impressed, I know they are long shots, but you never know.

The crazier moosecamp gets on the sidelines so goes his recruiting. Somebody in a position must have made mention to him (IOW stifle it), his antics were subdued during the Auburn game. Won't last long. gator fans have real reason for concern as long as moosecamp is HC.

His actions influence FSU losing recruits?

That may explain his actions better, if true.
