Butch lost to Dooley! That should have told us something.
First thing i thought of when we hired him. Sure a lot of people were thinking the same thing. He has proved to be a worse game day coach than Dooley. That's saying something. The signs were there, people ignored it.

Like it or not, Butch is:
* 14-4 over the last 18 games,
* 3rd in wins over the last 2 years in the SEC (Saban leads and McElwain is 1 win better), * and has a better record over the last 3 years than any coach in the SEC that was hired when he was.
Who you gonna hire if you fire him that can guarantee a better result

All against pitiful competition

He is 9-7 in the SEC the last 2 years and has an overall losing record in the SEC

I've been probably the biggest Butch supporter on this board but after witnessing last nights loss against Vandy, I've come to conclusion that Butch is not the right man for the Tennessee job. He was what we needed in the short term but long term, he's not going to cut it here as bad as I'd hate to say it. I know I know, I started a thread about 2 weeks ago saying that there was too much negativity going around our program and didn't want any part of it but now I've finally come to realize why VN has been upset this whole season. I just tried to keep confident that eventually everything would fall right back into place this season but it didn't happen. Our team has played their hearts out and never gave up. But you have to look at the facts too, we didn't live up to our expectations and failed to execute. Butch is a great guy and truly does care about this program but I think he's done served his time here. I do wish him success in his coaching career. He'll do great at a Mid Major school. I'm all up for a coaching change as long as it's the right one. Not someone like Les Miles who's probably similar to Butch.

Have at it!!

Dooley was trash. Butch is average. Now it's time to take the next step and get a winner while we still have talent on the roster. The AD situation makes it hard though

It's about $$$$$. They don't want to pay buyouts, and they won't pay big money for the right coach.

Lol, he is 2-2 against Vandy and 0-for against Muschamp. He needs to go. Case closed.

That's what it comes down to. We have some of the worst leadership at the top I've ever seen. Baseball, basketball, and football has been a huge mess the past 5-10 years

You may think this is crazy, but I think we could pull Jimbo Fisher with the right package

LSU wouldnt pull the trigger and Jimbo was listening

Fisher would also have a much easier path to the SECCG in the East.

He would not be competing with Bama for the West title and Fisher pretty much owns Florida right now

He would be who I would force to call the cops on me for stalking before I go to my 2nd tier coaches

Rumor has it he wants to be paid more than saban.

Coach Saban is probably going to cost lots of coaches their jobs before he is done. The only coach close is Urban Meyer. We can put up any amount of money you name, and not be able to hire a guaranteed championship coach. At 1st glance Jimbo sounds great; then remember he was top 5 this preseason and has lost 3 games already. One by 43 pts to a team who was beaten by Kentucky. No better than we have. Guaranteed coaches are not umemployeed and their current employers will just match whatever is offered. Petrino was hot and lost 3 games. Herman lost 3 games. Harbaugh lost 2 games and will not make conf champ game. I will be ready to join the new coach train if anybody can tell me a guaranteed winner that will come here!!!!

Those coaching buyouts are ridiculous, texas will pay strong $10.4M for three consecutive losing seasons. This crap needs to stop across CFB. Contracts should be performance based. Reward for failure is just plain stupid !

Baseball is the real head scratcher, because at least there we actually did go for what seemed like a HR hire. That one not working out is the only one I didn't see coming.

Give me booster $. Our big wigs are cheap and being champs.at football appears to be down the list.

Problem with this is that Tennessee wouldn't pony up the money it would take to get Fisher (plus there is the whole Winston thing).

Beat me to it. If we have to avoid coaches with a history of ignoring sexual assault (and IMO we should; we don't need to be a permanent target for lawsuits), that pretty much takes care of Fisher, I would imagine. Too bad. I was enjoying the scenario there for about 90 seconds.

Nailed it. Butch in my mind is just a matter of time. Now it's playing the chess board to assure we get the best available and don't settle like we did the last two times. Need a smart AD.
