Like it or not, Butch is:
* 14-4 over the last 18 games,
* 3rd in wins over the last 2 years in the SEC (Saban leads and McElwain is 1 win better), * and has a better record over the last 3 years than any coach in the SEC that was hired when he was.
Who you gonna hire if you fire him that can guarantee a better result
I've been probably the biggest Butch supporter on this board but after witnessing last nights loss against Vandy, I've come to conclusion that Butch is not the right man for the Tennessee job. He was what we needed in the short term but long term, he's not going to cut it here as bad as I'd hate to say it. I know I know, I started a thread about 2 weeks ago saying that there was too much negativity going around our program and didn't want any part of it but now I've finally come to realize why VN has been upset this whole season. I just tried to keep confident that eventually everything would fall right back into place this season but it didn't happen. Our team has played their hearts out and never gave up. But you have to look at the facts too, we didn't live up to our expectations and failed to execute. Butch is a great guy and truly does care about this program but I think he's done served his time here. I do wish him success in his coaching career. He'll do great at a Mid Major school. I'm all up for a coaching change as long as it's the right one. Not someone like Les Miles who's probably similar to Butch.

You may think this is crazy, but I think we could pull Jimbo Fisher with the right package
LSU wouldnt pull the trigger and Jimbo was listening
Fisher would also have a much easier path to the SECCG in the East.
He would not be competing with Bama for the West title and Fisher pretty much owns Florida right now
He would be who I would force to call the cops on me for stalking before I go to my 2nd tier coaches
It's about $$$$$. They don't want to pay buyouts, and they won't pay big money for the right coach.
That's what it comes down to. We have some of the worst leadership at the top I've ever seen. Baseball, basketball, and football has been a huge mess the past 5-10 years

Beat me to it. If we have to avoid coaches with a history of ignoring sexual assault (and IMO we should; we don't need to be a permanent target for lawsuits), that pretty much takes care of Fisher, I would imagine. Too bad. I was enjoying the scenario there for about 90 seconds.Problem with this is that Tennessee wouldn't pony up the money it would take to get Fisher (plus there is the whole Winston thing).
Dooley was trash. Butch is average. Now it's time to take the next step and get a winner while we still have talent on the roster. The AD situation makes it hard though
