If you question the actions of George W. Bush, you are unpatriotic. If you question the direction of this team, you are a troll, negavol, take your pick.

Volnation is a place to express your opinions on the team. If you disagree with that opinion, then explain why. If you cant emotionally handle someone else's opinion, maybe you shouldnt visit the board anymore.

And at the end of the day, all we have to do is win baby and this negativity goes away. Thats no different than any fan base.

There is a difference between stating your opinion and pushing an agenda. Winning won't do anything for the agenda pushers.

Interesting that so many of those complaining about "negative" posts are relatively new members of this site yet people who have been here hashing it out for years are trolls. If you want to see where all this is headed, go back and read all the Fulmer related threads from 2005 through 2008. Same issues. Same arguments.

Big difference between a tenured HC who had years of recruiting and building depth, talent and failing to do his job and a coach who inherited a dumpster fire with little to no talent and has been on the job for 2 years.

I also was around during the time when Dickey was the HC and Battle came in and left the program with not a lot to work with. The rebuild job that Majors had to do was not as difficult as the one DD is trying to do.

"I love UT, but I chose to go to _____ instead because people said bad things about the team on a message board."

I'd like to know how many times you've ever heard a recruit say this.

they have student managers to do that. print off fans comments and put on coaches desk to take with them on recruiting trips...

you get print outs from 4 or 5 different sites of coaches being fired and you ahve a dozen different schools with that information showing it, yeah it gets in their minds.

been going on ever since these sites have been around... I've seen the printouts that recruits gave our staff in the past when asking them if true or not..

it happens. not just to UT but to any school where staff is under fire from fans..

now, some coaches do read message boards. quite a few actually.

Many factors can make up a recruits decision and whether you like to admit it or not, things written on fan websites is one of those. Perception is reality?

It has never been more obvious that UT must make a bowl game...or else the fans will eat themselves.

See here.

Interesting that so many of those complaining about "negative" posts are relatively new members, have no clue, and were no where around while the site was growing in popularity. Members here speak what's on their mind, pure and simple and do it well.

After reading all these doom and gloom threads bashing Dooley and our Football program, I am convinced that most of these threads are being started by trolls.....

I can't imagine that Vol fans would be so dumb to start threads like this, that could be used to negatively recruit against us, and also to make recruits who visit blog sites very uneasy about our fanbase.

I would be shocked if trolls are not the ones starting most of these ridiculous threads..... I really wish the mods would either ban trolls from coming in here and starting negative threads, or just merge all the negative threads into 1 massive Nega-thread.......

thoughts?

So you want mods to kill every thread you happen to disagree with........close your mind much?

I was there as well.... if Dooley can/could/does turn this team around and builds this program, it will be the greatest job in coaching in recent history.

I don't know if he can, but I would love to see... I alway root for the underdog

Really getting tired of threads and posts whining and moaning about how negative message board content on VN is driving away recruits. Yes, I'm fully aware of the Wisconsin kid de-committing based on getting his feelings hurt on their board. But that was a rare case and it simply is nowhere near the norm. In my opinion this lamenting by homers as another lame attempt to shut down criticism of Dooley and the program and I absolutely reject it. I and others will speak our minds whenever we feel like it about whatever we want related to UT athletics. By the way, UT wasn't the only team to not meet expectations of the fanbase this year.....and do you think their message board content is clean as the wind-driven snow? Give me a break - criticism and honest critique of the program is everywhere across the country on the D1 level on message boards. Do you honestly think that only teams who exceeded expectations this year are having good recruiting success? Malarky. Homers need to grow up and accept that not everyone is going to agree with them and their "real fan" analysis' all the time. So let's please stop with the sanctimonious attitude about message board content and the impact it has on the program, because it's just plain absurd

You're always going to have a certain level of chicken little on a message board. Take it for what it's worth, it's not much.

So a person is a troll that states the obvious, but, that poster is not in with the buddies that drink the Doolaid? Isn't that the same as the George Bush comment of people not wanting him questioned? They drank the Bushaid. Or the Obama apologists who pretend all that hope and change is working when their neighbors are out of work? History is full of lessons in every area of life of people that hopped on a fantasy train to their own detriment.

A message board is and should be way down the list of reasons to avoid a school. In the case of UT and CDD, they only have to listen to ESPN, talk to current players and watch some games to make that decision. How many teams made bowl games this year? Did UT? Per media quotes it was beneath the dignity of a few of our "stars" to go to a sh---- bowl game, remember? It's that stuff that kills a program.

Simply false! What is on this site is used in recruiting against us. Ignore the facts if you want but your post is FALSE!

I just wish that if a poster or a thread was put on enough ignore lists then it would get deleted from the site, but that is just me.

Should we shut the site down for the greater good?

For the greater good of recruiting at this time yes!

I went thru this discussion yesterday and was lol at until Larry got on here and said the same thing.

AD staffers monitor web sites for info to be placed into recruiting packets as part of the negative recruiting process. Threads like "how many wins" and "will DD be let go mid season" you can bet your ass are front and center of that process. I am done arguing about this but you people that act like you aren't being used against the program you are supposed to support aren't seeing the facts!

Im with you on this, real fans are passionate about their team. We enjoy victories and Monday Morning QB the losses. Neither makes us more of a fan than the next guy but at the end of the day we are all still fans. You dont like whats happening then say so, if you dont agree with whats posted move on to a different thread. I for one dont believe our discussions here make any difference to recruits, quit giving yourself so much credit. Its a FAN page, so know your role a be the best FAN you can possibly be no matter what your feelings may be. Group hug and GO VOLS!!!!

So now Dooley can't recruit because of what's being said on a message board? That's ridiculous. Every team has a message board. Every message board has those same people saying the same things. Seems like a bad case of paranoia to me. Not to mention, if a kid's feelings get hurt to that extent from reading something on here, I'd hate to see what they feel like when an SEC linebacker hits him.
