I don't know how to embed tweets, but you can't watch this and not see how close TV was to returning. He loves it here and it broke him to leave.View attachment 814783
He’s been talking about us so much I’m almost wondering if he’s having second thoughts on his decision. Too late now, but he seems a little depressed.

One difference seems to be more emphasis on holding runners on-base.

I think Frank was right to focus college pitchers on just pitching, with the idea that getting them good enough in that skill set would provide them a ticket to the minor leagues, where other skills could be added.

It isn't so much that Frank is no longer right, but that now the pathway to the majors has changed--and possibly, today's best high school pitchers arrive further developed than they were 10 years ago. I'm guessing that Reynolds' coaching has been informed more by current trends. Just a guess.

edit: Of course, maybe the market--the money being spent on and to college players--has changed the demands for higher quality and a fuller skill set. People spend/invest money to gain a return, and for college programs today that means consistent, year-to-year pursuit of national championships.

Sorry, but Frank is right…at the college level. Pitchers are evaluated on their stuff. If you pitch well, you have fewer runners on base.

Now…I’m very interested in seeing how Frank manages a major league rotation that pitches 6-7 days out of the week.

To address your edit. Give me the flamethrower you can throw strikes and minimize base runners.

I think there's a natural news cycle for those who cover the Giants, and Tony's managerial responsibility right now would be to "clear the decks" of any unfinished business, so that the spotlight can turn (as it naturally would this time of year) toward analyzing the '26 roster and introducing any new players to SF fandom.

I wished I hadn’t even watched that recent clip of Tony talking about the news leak. I was closing up at work, saw the clip then this song came on the radio and now I’m all in my feels again. It would make moving on so much easier if he would too. Damnit Tony! 😭

Beautiful tune. 🎶 …haunting…
