Fixed it for you. Good luck to her, hope she gets the one she really wants. So, my daughter is a senior, with all her college applications out right now. Obviously, it's a very anxious time for a teenager (and parents)...just watching the mail every day, waiting for the BIG envelope, as opposed to the small envelope or an email.

Obviously, it's a very anxious time for a teenager (and parents)...just watching the mail every day, waiting for the BIG envelope, as opposed to the small envelope or an email. Most give you a January-ish date for deadlines on "early action" submissions, but they start rolling in in December without notice...so, it's really about 4-6 weeks of being anxious to hear good news, frequently checking school portals and the mailbox.
Kinda reminds me of this OC search....go to work, checking periodically during the day for news, to no avail. Get up the next day, and repeat. So, maybe UT should do this hiring like admissions, and just send out OC notification envelopes in the mail. Big envelope means "knocked it out of the park". Small envelope...not so good.
We've always been dividedDivided into two camps, Chicken Littles vs Let This Play Out. I'm in the "Let This Play Out" camp. Sure everyone wants to know what's really going on with the OC search, and know it yesterday or last week. A lot of posters feel like UT is getting left behind other schools and their recent hires, and the lack of any credible information can be frustrating. But the people who need to know, CJP & ADPF, do. We don't. I for one have been most impressed with the almost complete lack of information during this search, no one with inside info is leaking anything to anyone. That is almost impossible in this day and age!
Chicken Littles ( imo ) will think we've offered practically everyone the OC job only to be turned down each and every time. I believe CJP has his OC and has for some time, and they are just waiting til their current gig is up. A couple of wild guesses would be someone in the same circumstances as Kitchens or Long. If it turns out to be Friend, I'll eat this post.
Again, I've been impressed with CJP's stealthiness...

The longer this goes on the more I believe the delay is designed to help manage the fan bases' response to an underwhelming hire. They know we're nuts and hope to limit the mattress burnings.
I'm more than willing to be surprised on the upside.
Times have changed. I remember getting academic scholarship offers in the mail from schools that I never applied to. Does that still happen? So, my daughter is a senior, with all her college applications out right now.
