There never has been a college coach that went straight into being a MLB manager. Only college coach that became a MLb manager I see is Pat Murphy and even he was fired at Arizona State and moved into the Padres organization and worked his way up. His teams wouldn’t be able to play with the fire his college teams can(I mean he gets enough hate in college, just imagine trying that in the pros), he also would have little to no say in his clubs player makeup. So maybe he does it, but I don’t see any reason why he would even want to. Most MLB clubs change their managers like they do their underwear, they receive hate almost at all times and there’s no way he coaches in the pros like he does at UT.

Agree. There is 0% chance he leaves and gets an MLB manager position. Trust me. Pro ball doesn’t work like that. He would have to work his way up from the minors. Even if he could (which won’t happen), it would be a complete disaster for him.

This actually gets at something I've been thinking about: there are a bunch of long time MLB assistant coaches, bench coaches, etc., who have been "paying their dues" for a shot at the manager's chair, and if an "outsider" like Tony came in to get the job there might be some resentment (which could make it difficult to hire a staff)

I've been trying to think of the last college baseball coach to make the jump to MLB. I got nothin'. Anybody? Has it ever happened in modern times?

First, that’s not what Basillio said. His shows are archived. He regularly texts with Tony V, so what you’re saying is complete horsecrap. Yall keep creating this straw man of Basillio that yall love tearing down. Weird to attack a guy who gives so much to our community.

I agree, I don't know why so many can't stand him. He seems to be knowledge and in the know on stuff, does he get it right all the time, no but who does. I don't get the hate from this group.

NIL doesn't come from ticket prices probably correct But the players do get profit sharing. Big donors are taking care of most of the NIL so the ticket prices relive the burden on the donors to cover building and refinishing. In a shell all things work together.

If Tony V ever decides to leave the vols for a mlb team will be heartbroken but will cheer for him every game.

However once Tony leaves that mlb team I hope they never win another game and the franchise files for bankruptcy and their stadium is condemned.

I would agree; but recently there have been plenty of examples who didn't work their way up at all. Stephen Vogt/Brad Ausmus/Craig Counsell/AJ Hinch/David Ross. Albert Puljos is linked to the Angels as we speak. I do realize all of those are former MLB players though :D
