Fans are paying a portion of the revenue share in the talent fee tax added to tickets this season. Tickets have an extra 10% tacked on, so you’re talking several hundred dollars more for a set of 4.NIL doesn't come from ticket prices probably correct But the players do get profit sharing. Big donors are taking care of most of the NIL so the ticket prices relive the burden on the donors to cover building and refinishing. In a shell all things work together.
First, that’s not what Basillio said. His shows are archived. He regularly texts with Tony V, so what you’re saying is complete horsecrap. Yall keep creating this straw man of Basillio that yall love tearing down. Weird to attack a guy who gives so much to our community.
Yeah, but he also was a player in MLB and had worked in the minors, so not really the same thing, he actually had MLB experience. Tony would literally be the only college baseball coach to go directly from college to MLB without any MLB experience. Howser was 3rd base coach for 9 seasons before 1 season at FSU.Dick Howser did. He’s the only one.
Again though, they played the game so they paid their dues. Vogt also was a non manager level coach for a major league team for a season before becoming head coach. Ausmus worked for the Padres for 2 seasons and was Israeli coach for WBC. Counsell was in front office for the Brewers after retiring before becoming manager. Hinch was manager for minor league operations for d backs. Ross was a special assistant in Cubs organization after retiring. Pujols also signed a special assistant role with Angels after retirement. Also was a manager of a Dominican Republic baseball team. Again all of the above had MLB experience as well as post playing MLB experience. As said before Dick Howser had MLB experience as player and in minors, Pat Murphy had MLB minor league playing experience before coaching Notre Dame and Arizona State before moving into MLB organization a few years before taking over as a manager.I would agree; but recently there have been plenty of examples who didn't work their way up at all. Stephen Vogt/Brad Ausmus/Craig Counsell/AJ Hinch/David Ross. Albert Puljos is linked to the Angels as we speak. I do realize all of those are former MLB players though![]()
Serious question...Are you and Tony B a couple? I have never seen someone scour the internet looking for opportunities to white knight someone as much as you do Basilio.First, that’s not what Basillio said. His shows are archived. The pay your dues paragraph is the he most important!!!! MLB pulls from its minors.I get the prestige of being an MLB manager, but as others have said, it would be a disaster.
MLB is a completely different sport than college ball. Way more games, motivation is very different, and payroll disadvantages are very difficult to overcome. He would be at an organization that is 3rd in their division in spending. The number one team (Dodgers) spend over twice as much as you do for talent. There is a reason why the Dodgers are so good and the Giants are not right now: $$$. Coaching alone will not fix that. I know he is working with NIL here, but MLB is magnitudes bigger in terms of money advantage / disadvantages.
Also, MLB is very much a "pay your dues" type league. Who is going to want to work under TV when he jumped over you to the big chair? Not a whole lot of people. He would be a black sheep.
One of the main reasons I don't see this happening is outside of Tennessee not a lot of people like Tony. I was at the CWS and was amazed at the amount of hate the LSU fans had for him, he is living rent free in their heads. Just don't see that translating to a national platform.
He has upset more than a few apple carts… and gives very few fuqs for it.One of the main reasons I don't see this happening is outside of Tennessee not a lot of people like Tony. When the hell did we start using LSU fans' feelings as a barometer for anything? One of the main reasons I don't see this happening is outside of Tennessee not a lot of people like Tony.
