You really think execution was the only problem?
I'm not saying it was the only problem. I'm saying that if it wasn't a problem, then the Vols would have won tonight.

1. If you kick field goals from farther than 50 yards, you shouldn't expect to make all of them.
2. Arian Foster has been in Knoxville five years. Someone should have taught him how to carry the ball.
3. Crompton and the OL have all been with the program a long time. They should have mastered the basics by now.
4. Our special teams have been awful for longer than I can remember. Our coaching staff should know better than to use a spread punt formation.
5. When your QB is struggling to complete 40% of his passes a smart coach might consider asking him to pass the ball less than 40 times, especially when your running backs are getting 7 yards everytime you hand them the ball.
1. True, but asking the kicker to hit %50 of his kicks isn't much. Lincoln has a 50-yard leg. He was inaccurate tonight, and him missing his shortest field goal when the game was on the line is evidence of that.
2. You're exactly right. I can't believe the RB Coach never did that! I mean, that's as obvious as teaching a WR to catch! I can't believe a senior tailback was never taught to carry a ball securely. You should write a letter or something.
3. No doubt they've mastered the basics. The OL was awesome last season. I just wanna know how the coaches get blamed when a proven, experienced, battle-tested OL plays poorly.
4. I agree with this, and this is the only thing I blame the coaches for. You shouldn't put a punter who's never seen live game action in a situation like that. Nevertheless, Cunningham didn't exactly do anything to prevent the kick, which is especially bad when it was obvious that UCLA was jail-breaking.
5. Seven YPC for Foster and Hardesty? Foster had that, but take away his 41 yarder, and he's at 4.6 YPC. Hardesty had 5.5 YPC. And that was mostly in the 1st Half, as UCLA's front 7 owned the OL during the 2nd Half. I'm sorry, but when I see a player who's performing poorly, I don't excuse the player and place blame on the coach because he didn't take pressure off of him by abandoning the passing game. Actually, had we lost and we were run-heavy, then people would be complaining that we didn't pass enough.

You mean UCLA's coaches right?
Cause our coaches didn't do squat.
The UCLA players wanted it more, and outplayed Tennessee's.
Here's something interesting:

Tennessee was God-awful in so many ways tonight, and you can put most of it on coaching. I can't wait for Florida, Auburn, Georgia, and Alabama to have their way with Tennessee so Phil and this supremely overrated staff can finally get the boot. Until then I am officially renouncing my status as a Volunteers football fan.

Wow. Seriously? Fulmer may not be the best coach out there, but what's the alternative? The man has won several division titles, a few SEC titles, and a National Title for you guys. You expect them to win them all? Look at his overall record since taking over. Did he not improve your program? Does he not deserve a certain measure of respect? You lose a hard-fought road game to a solid OOC team in OT, and all of a sudden you're renouncing your status as a fan?
Many times, I've been angry with Mike Bellotti's decision making, but my blood would remain green if we lost our next 10 games. C'mon man, step off the ledge. It could be much, much worse. I mean, imagine having to play Pac-10 games week in and week out.
It's funny. While Vols fans are thinking they got embarrassed, other fans look at it as how it is and actually think less of the fans who are claiming tragedy. C'mon guys - Don't drink the cyanide-laced Koolaid!
