Matthews didn't specifically name Perry this morning, but said part of the reason for the Byrd move was that a WR from last year's team would not be returning to school. I assume he meant VP, and he said it pretty matter of factly fwiw.

Gone. JUCO in hopes of MLB draft.

All joking aside about Paul Bain, if Tuttle can't really go full out at all this year Bain is gonna have to give some meaningful snaps

For the record, when I suggested Paul Bain could be an impact player this year, I was not joking. Others have referenced lines usually reserved for Chuck Norris toward him. And if I ever meet him, I hope to God I don't have a visual recall incident from reading his thread, and accidentally call him ball pain.

Truth is he walked on here, and from all reports, has busted his ass to make this team better. I hope he can be this year's Alex Ellis or Jacob Gilliam. With Shy Tuttle not yet cleared, and Alexis Johnson yet to be reinstated, we really need him to be.

VP? He was a senior, and used his last year of eligibility. No, he had to have meant someone still on the roster.

The irony of Bob Mueller asking for a link to confirm inside info is not lost on VolNation. We lol'd.

The Zelda response is also priceless.

Joking aside that's just the info I've got. Obviously don't have a link. Guess only time will tell.

So leaving to go play Juco baseball and hope to get drafted in 2 years? I seem to remember he was a very good baseball player, didn't realize he has legitimate MLB potential.

Shame he's leaving as he seemed to really come on this spring. Really no excuse for getting behind academically with all the support available.

JUCO is different draft criteria...would be eligible after this season. It was noted during his recruitment that it was possible that he would get drafted after high school...well regarded prospect.

Let's just say I'm very skeptical. The position he plays and his body type and size it is going to be very difficult for his leg to get back into good enough shape within a year for him to be able to contribute-not to mention the difficulty getting the rest of his body into shape. Plus there is the risk of re-injury so they will probably bring him along very slowly and if there is any hint of risk of re-injury he won't play. An injury like this can eventually be career ending and they won't do any thing to magnify that possibility.

So basically, you have no legit information to feel the way that you do. Thanks.

Vincent seems to be trending toward the 2-star git-shirt category pretty quickly. Butch is terrific at roster management so with this kid's injury history he can be eased onto a medical scholarship or just dropped from the roster due to grades. There was a Knoxville area small WR type last year that wandered off the roster really fast - cannot recall name. Tyler Byrd and Williams are the real deal so why waste time with marginal kids who will not do their school work and cannot stay healthy enough to suit up?
Saban and his program are masterful the way some of their kids disappear off the Tide roster for "medical" reasons. If CBJ is using this same tactic I ain't mad at him. As long as the playing field is level I'm good.

Tuttle can still be very formidable @ 90%, let's not forget, he 's a good athlete and very strong

The Tuttle situation was discussed on Sunday Sports Source. Pennington said he's newest time table is late July and would not be shocked to see him redshirt. That would suck IMO. I think the kid can be a real impact guy when healthy
