We had the option of taking our cell phones back to the car, or they would keep them in a safe place. We chose to leave them in the car. However, you can take a camera in Monday-Wednesday if it does not tape .
I'm from Augusta and have been a couple times. If you are from the area, there's going to be someone you know who has tickets. Not bragging, but just wanted to chime in. I'm not a golf fan in the least, but it is one of the coolest experiences I've had. They are incredibly strict on people bringing in phones and other electronic devices thurs-sunday, and because of that, no one is attached to a screen. It's like going back in time.
It is such a cool place, but I would never go on a Sunday. On Sunday, I want to see the action and golf is a tough arena to "see" the action.
My favorite time to be there is Friday afternoon seeing the last groups come in on 18. You know the cut line...or have a really good idea and seeing the sun set on the last groups is just a special moment.
a question for you fellow Masters visitors. My son says to me that he's seen a bunch of Snapchat photos from Augusta National and asked how that could happen since no one is allowed to bring in cell phones. My first guess was they took a pic with a camera then uploaded but he threw that one out since you must have the app to upload a pic and those are on cells. Since all I know is Facebook I have no idea.
While I agree you get to see more of the action on TV, there is still nothing like hearing the roars reverberate across the course on Sunday afternoon when something amazing happens. Sometimes you are even lucky enough to witness it.
I've been to two us opens. & they're great.Been there one time, back in 2010. Went on Sunday. Stood right behind Phil as he hit that incredible shot on 13. Walked over to 15 and watched Tiger hole out for eagle. It's honestly one of the prettiest places I've ever been. Not a blade of grass out of place. Hope I get lucky enough to go back again.
