I have to say im almost offended that not 1 time in the press conference did i hear clk say that we are going to be competing for championships. In fact, when asked about expectations, he said something along the lines of the wins will come in time. How about making a statement to the country and letting every recruit out there that we expect to win championships here at tennessee. Somehow he manages to call out urban meyer and florida but doesnt have the guts to not accept losing.
It sounds like clk is thinking this is more rebuilding than refining and doesnt think were gonna compete for the sec next year. I dont like that right from the gate. I think today was the day to make a statement to the whole country that Tennessee is coming. Instead we got somebody who seemed scared to put his neck on the line
when kiffin was asked about expectations, he should have said that we expect to win the sec next year. It just sets the tone from day 1 and puts everybody on watch. i thought he handled that 1 very bad but i did think he came off pretty likeable for the most part. i just would have liked to see him say CHAMPIONSHIPS

We finally get our coaching "messiah", and some people are already sharpening the nails they're going to crucify him with. What a wonderful world.
A coach's first year is what it is. These kids, many of them still befuddled by Clawson's cerebral (read: confusing) offensive scheme, are going to have to learn yet another offensive scheme. The defense has a whole new package to learn. And who knows - special teams may even get some attention for once!
I'm not expecting a 5-7 or even 6-6 first year, as I believe we could have a solid eight wins. If we don't, I'm not going to be grabbing my pitchfork and lynching shoes and preparing to sacrifice Kiffin at the altar of ridiculous expectations. That's not fair to him, his staff, or the kids playing for him.
When Richt was hired at UGA he was asked how they compared to FSU. He didn't want huge expectations right out of the gate, therefore he told them that UGA was way behind FSU at the time.I have to say im almost offended that not 1 time in the press conference did i hear clk say that we are going to be competing for championships.
