Velus Jones Will be Going Pro! No?

Jones is like Corderalle Patterson. He is electric when he gets his hands on the ball. On a kick off or punt return, when he's back there, you just scoot to the edge of your seat... cause you know something is about to happen.

I like Jones and he is a better wide receiver but Patterson was unbelievable as kick returner.

Gotcha. Post was a bit confusing.

I think he's done enough to get drafted. Definitely not high, likely in 6th or 7th Rounds. Maybe he goes undrafted like Callaway and proves himself. His stats are eerily close to Callaways.

MC: 30rec 635yards 21.2ypc 6TD
VJ: 50rec 700yards 14.0ypc 6TD

I guess it depends on how he does at the combine/pro day. If he runs a 4.3/4.4 he'll grade quite a bit higher than if he runs a 4.5/4.6

Yeah I realized that from the responses. Thank you for being a gent about it. Something too many there don’t understand. Anyways, yeah I could see the non draft unless Velus keeps having crazy games like today. He’s really going after it and his teammates want him to get it. The blocking and celebration of his TD returns was magnificent. I think with Velus, you have to look at everything else he has done. He was a special teams guy at USC. He’s only been playing receiver for a short time. So, that says a lot. Albeit, you had to look at who was throwing to Callaway. I am sure that bought Callaway some excuses as his highlight reel also had to do. Not sure what MC’s performance looked like at the combine, but I’m pretty sure Velus will outperform MC and many others in the speed category. Not sure about hops or strength. I don’t know all the exercises.

Some of the really fast guys don’t like to get hit, but Velus doesn’t shy away from contact. He is a good combination of speed, hands, strength, and durability. I think he gets his shot in one of the later rounds.

Got to have speed to run a kickoff back and I think he is listed 2nd best kick returner for the Trojans.

Marquez had 40 returns for 13.6yards/return and 2 TDs while here. He ran a 4.55 which certainly isn't considered "good" speed by NFL standards.

VJJr's stats are almost mirrored Callaway's as a Punt Returner.

Patterson was special. No disrespect to Jones but I can’t think of anyone offhand that compares to Patterson on physical talent. He had an insane combination of speed and agility. He could make cuts and lose almost no speed.

I dare to say that whatever bowl we go to, Velus will see it as his last picture show. He'll play like it too. The Captain will oblige him. Velus, Tillman, and the Hook will put on a show not seen since the Peyton and Clausen years. For Velus, he will be in a Velus Jones and the Last Crusade mode.

Yeah that was a bad take. Velus is actually a super senior. He's currently playing one additional year due to covid.

Venus will earn a spot in the pros, he has something that’s hard to teach and that’s work ethic and consistently wanting to improve. To say this man will not make a nfl roster is an insult to him and he will work even harder to make the cut. Love me some velus my favorite vol this year,so glad he was finally utilized this year.

Not sure which direction we go to replace him, but I saw some pop from Holiday yesterday. Kid has some quicks.
I was just writing about that. >Apparently< could potentially have 6 guys leave for the NFL from our O. Jones, Mays, Evans, Hooker, Tillman and some are saying even Payton.

He was so fun to watch… people were chasing him all over the field and in circles.

Well, Venus isn't as cute as her little sister, Serena, but I like long-legged chicks, and Velus is no Venus, wouldn't want him if he was either. Just saying.
