When Velus came here, I was curious how he would do. I didn’t think he was making the best decision for him and his stats at USC were average when you consider NFL talent. When he began playing for us, I felt like we should have been getting him the ball more, but he was playing in what seems to have become an archaic offense. Now look. I would imagine this guy will go pro after this season, even though his first years in College football were less impressive. Would you agree? I sure hope so, because this kid has stayed the course and is fast, versatile and… well… good. I will be very happy for him.

He doesn’t have another season of eligibility.

He either enters the draft or gets a different job, but he doesn’t have any eligibility left. In fact, I may be mistaken, but I think the only reason he’s here this year was because he got the extra year due to Covid.
He redshirted in 2016 for USC. Has played 5 seasons of football. Don’t get more “super”
in senioritis.

Just listened to the VQ podcast and some Senior Bowl reps were talking him up last night. Sounds like he’ll get his invite to Mobile. Really happy for him. This is what needs to be happening for us to be elite again. Putting our guys in the League and having them be great ambassador’s and representative’s for our school, so that these young kids will see us as a great avenue to achieve their professional football aspirations.

I think he is one of the best examples we have of what happens to an athlete when he gets in our program: he actually gets better. In my mind, he has really come a long way this year.

Velus and Tillman both. I'd also be willing to be that Payton's stats are much better than last year at Hail State...especially yards per catch and TDs per game.

Rather he goes pro or not, he is out of eligibility after the season.

He's on his last year of eligibility, isn't he?
Yes, I guess maybe it’s assumed he is going pro. I didn’t know if his resume would have gotten him drafted up until this year, so that’s where I was going with this thread.

Super excited to hear this....he's one of my faves...He was also the first current player on the roster I saw welcome the new staff...it was somewhere along the lines of...dream to play in on an offense like that and he had better start practice sprints up and down the field...from this season, it looks like the early buy in and extra work will pay off for him.

I wonder how bored you actually have to be to make a thread with an intentionally misleading title.
Probably not as bored as a person who wants to be a moron on a football forum and assume anyone is out to mislead anyone. I updated the title for you. Whipe your tears away and go have a better Sunday.

You are one of a few people who understood where I was going with this thread.

Gotcha. Post was a bit confusing.

I think he's done enough to get drafted. Definitely not high, likely in 6th or 7th Rounds. Maybe he goes undrafted like Callaway and proves himself. His stats are eerily close to Callaways.

MC: 30rec 635yards 21.2ypc 6TD
VJ: 50rec 700yards 14.0ypc 6TD

I guess it depends on how he does at the combine/pro day. If he runs a 4.3/4.4 he'll grade quite a bit higher than if he runs a 4.5/4.6
