ThisAt this point, who can tell if the offensive coaches are worth a darn? The stench of Butch Jones, John Currie, Dave Hart, and Derek Dooley is still so strong that everything is unclear. These are Butch’s recruits who got ZERO development in the last few years - and they had to absorb the loser culture that Jones sold. And Derek Dooley not recruiting a single o-line prospect for one of his years is still having an impact today.

If you ever thought Georgia had anything other than a 99% chance of winning this game, you were fooling yourself.
I am just happy to see our OWN TEAM, not just "going through the motions"
Sadly, that is an improvement. But for now, against the #2 team, I will take it, in hopes that by the end of the season, we can get 2 or 3 SEC wins.
But Butch, In 2015 you kicked it so you would only lose by 1!He made at least two blunders in this game. Going for two after each TD.
On the first, it was early in the 3rd Quarter. You should very rarely go for two until you are in the 4th Quarter.
On the second, you kick the point to make it an 11-point game. You don’t go for two until you have to.
You have lost your mind. I don't know what game you are watching but we have done nothing on offense and the defense is getting gashed. Missouri played this team much better defensively
I get we lost and our offense is still struggling but there were some shimmers of light in that game. Defense played well for most of the game, but face it they eventually got tired. Pruitt has a lot of work to do and there is no magical switch for this. People need to get a grip on reality,This post is super accurate actually. Too many drunk people floating around spouting crap because they are butthurt imo. Imagine if this had been a night game.![]()
Today we saw the boys put a foot in the Pruitt camp. Butch had the team playing OVC football for years and Josh Dobbs bailed him out for three seasons. Literally almost single-handed. The worst season ever immediately after his graduation should provide enough evidence. Butch created an OVC culture. Today was a great sign that the boys want to play SEC football again. Herman Munster and Hambone gave us Stooley and Botch and we are where we are. Spoiling Kentucky's season is not great for the Vols and should be a given but it will be a signature win this year and the promise of better things in Year 2.
Through the first half of GA. Yes, I know we are down #17 but I, for one am MUCH happier with the play so far than last week. Our guys are still making a bunch of unforced errors for missed formation but at least I can see some FIGHT in guys.
I LOVE the pressure we are bringing on the QB and it is paying off with a number of plays where he was thinking about getting hit instead of getting rid of the ball.
I love the fact that we have only 1 sack so far and our o-line is protecting JG much better.
We are actually holding on to the ball this week.
We are beginning to HIT them - not as often as I would like and we are still learning to wrap up with whatever new contact rules are in place - but we are beginning to hit and tackle a bit more than before. They no longer run through us like swiss cheese.
We are getting beat by better players but unlike in the last few games, it feels like our team is at least on the field and fighting for a win.
For those of you sourpusses hyperventilating because we are losing, GA comes into this game (and will likely leave it) as ranked #2. What the hell did you expect by a team that won ZERO SEC games last year? Being honest, I knew we were going to lose this but I just wanted to see some improvement to give me hope for when we get to teams we SHOULD beat.
Now that JG has a pocket for a bit, I would like to see some improvement there. I see people griping about Helton's play calling, and you may be right, but I am guessing this last week's focus was on protecting the QB and giving him time. That is happening. Hopefully, they will actually get to practice some other plays going forward. I wouldnt expect much tho. Helton is likely going to just try to get them to execute vanilla stuff reliably and then use the few twists they have on later teams that we have a shot with, KY MS, SC, etc.
Dont know how the rest of the game goes but I am really glad to see that GA didnt blow our doors off in the first QTR. I still expect them to score 35-10 by the end.
After watching most of the SC KY game, SC does look beatable (or KY is just that good). The concern is that the game is on the road in Columbia. I don't have much confidence in this UT team when they are playing on the road. Well, not much less confidence than when they are playing at home.If things keep progressing the Vols should be ready by the South Carolina game to run the table. By then there should be a set lineup and players should have stepped it up to be competitive enough to win out. With a bye week the coaches should be able to put a good game plan together to stay tough against Auburn.
Ok, given the circumstances, what would make you post something positiveWhat game were you watching? We had 3 first downs by halftime. Had UGA not bumbled missed opportunities they would have score 3 more TD's. A total of 209 yards with 66 yards rushing. Stop sugar coating it dude, only our punting was worth bragging about. We were getting our butts pushed all over the field by the 4th quarter. What does Pruitt do? He cries at the post game presser. Good Lord.............![]()
I'm hoping 2 good recruiting years, 2 good S&C years, and 2 years of quality coaching will have us winning the games we're supposed to win and being competitive in the big ones. Short of that, we don't have the horses or training to run the right kind of race yet.I don't have any answer friend, but at least I was there. Embarrassingly, so were about 999 other devoted Vol fans. Attendance to support the team was dayum pathetic. Do you have an answer for that?
