Vandy is better than TN

I think it will go a lot like the Vandy vs Alabama game. I watched that game it felt like Vandy was playing with them but Bama methodically beat them 30 to 14. I think Vanderbilt is good but this is truly how I feel this game plays out and Vols win.

Umm.....we only have 11 players. Wished we could have 13 - but you could be saying that with our porous defense, it might take 13 of 'em?
Was wondering if anyone really reads these threads thoroughly. Kudos UTVols74!!!! And I really do though think our porous D will need 13 to stop Pavia.

Going to be a shootout.. I think you tempo Vandy all game. You can't afford to slow the game down unless you have a 4 TD lead late in the 3rd.. This team has a very good offense and being disciplined and tackling well will factor into this game..

Dooley put 13 in vs LSU and we stopped them for the win until the refs did the math and let LSU do a do over. That's when the rule the ref stands over the ball to let the D sub. LSU subbed then we subbed but they centered it ran the play and we stopped them won then we didn't 2 players hadn't made the sideline but we took a loss and the rule change came after. Same with a loss in the Music City Bowl where UNC got to kick a missed FG again because they had a penalty that brought in the 10 second run-off rule on a penalty. Vols have at least 2 losses that led to rule changes that would had prevented those losses but the Ls still show up on our records. BVS is real, long time Vol fans have lived it.

I think Arion Carter will spy Pavia and Carter is a good open field tackler. He put the whammy to Lagway last night.

Guy had like 550 yards of total offense against Kensucky. You make him do that again with a shadow all game.. You can't afford to not spy him every play.

Yes, A. Carter, and/or Perlotte as others here have suggested. Meanwhile, who our best guy to cover their leading receiver, a TE? Guess it depends on where he lines up and/or motions to? 🤔

With all respect to George Cafego, I can’t say I mind Vandy being decent. We've been deprived of an in-state rival all these years. They could have been the Ok State to our Oklahoma, the Sparty to our Michigan, if only they had been halfway decent for some significant stretch of the 20th century.

Hope our boys put them in their place Saturday, though.
I wish there was a dislike option. I despise vAndy.

Our defensive staff need to watch game film cause Pavia loves to take off and run when there is an opening . They've got to contain him and not let him scramble
In case coaches are reading this forum = DIEGO IS GOING TO TAKE OFF WITH THE BALL ALL GAME LONG. YOU MUST CONTAIN HIM TO WIN
They probably don't know to watch game film and didn't know this about Pavia🤭

He's not a punk. He's a good guy with good leadership that believes in his team. As much as I want Tennessee to win, Vanderbilt is a good team with a good chance of winning and making the playoffs. He's exactly the same as our Joey and he's no punk.
He is ABSOLUTELY a punk. Can't keep that mouth shut. He is sure enough a leader, but eventually those checks you write have to be cashed. He has said publicly that vAndy is the best team in the country. It's time to make him prove it.

He's indeed a puke-mouth punk. Look forward to seeing his carcass splattered across Shields-Watkins Field on Saturday.

Have they assembled this team on good high school recruiting or do they have a Mark Cuban ?
I’m afraid the days of “ assembling a team on good high school recruiting “ are history for any power 5 program, including OURS. I don’t like it…. AT ALL, but here we are. Vandy has a good team. Anyone objectively observing them last season like I was could see it coming. This will be a good game and as others have said… I’m very glad it’s being played in Neyland.
If there was ever a game for Coach Heupel to keep putting on more steam and score at every opportunity… this is the one. 40 pts ahead at the end of the 4th qtr, 2 seconds left, 4th down…kick a damn field goal. 😁

They stopped him in Nashville last year same coaching staff.

Put Perlotte as a spy on Pavia and make him pay for his qb runs.
Our linebackers have to play their best game this weekend. Perlotte needs to play like he always does, but we have to play smart. As much as I want to see Pavia get popped, I don’t want anyone head hunting on him and taking cheap shots. Just crush him over and over

I’m not suggesting head hunting or risking penalties or injuries. Just suggesting a spy to deliver a good solid, clean stop when Pavia takes off so that he thinks twice before running.

I wasn’t suggesting that you were. I think our guys are going to be hyped up, and Perlotte only knows one speed.I just want him to do what you’re saying, but I just want these guys to play smart and disciplined. On top of what Pavia does, they run a lot of misdirection and counters. The linebackers can’t get lost
