I keep hearing all this talk about how “young” the Tennessee football team is … Pelosi !!! (ie BS !!!).
According to the most recent "Rivals" depth charts (including special teams) listed for both Vanderbilt and Tennessee; Vanderbilt starts 6 seniors, 10 juniors, 10 sophomores and 2 freshmen. Tennessee starts 8 seniors, 7 juniors, 9 sophomores and 4 freshmen.
So Vanderbilt is starting 16 seniors/juniors and 12 sophomores/freshmen. Tennessee is starting 15 seniors/juniors and 13 sophomores/freshmen …virtually identical.
Gentlemen, while youth is a problem it’s not the biggest problem as many other teams have youthful players … the problem is … I hate to say is … coaching.
The Vanderbilt coaches are getting an A+ effort out of their team every week and could have beaten both Georgia and Arkansas with just an ounce of luck. Tennessee, on the other hand, seems to be backing up. Furthermore, I’ll bet the players “Star Ranking” comparisons between the teams will only exacerbate our coaching failures.
While I have appreciated Coach Dooley’s intellect, charm, wit and honesty; I’m now wavering on whether or not he has the “right stuff” to be a successful head coach in the SEC. I’m wrong about many things and I certainly hope I’m wrong about CDD but please … let’s stop all this excuse making and just say “the jury’s still out”.
