'26 VA RB Savion Hiter

A couple of weeks ago, AP said he was above 50% we land Hiter. A few days ago, someone asked him if he was still there, ABOVE 50, and he replied he had come down. Quote, "Im not saying he's going to Michigan, because I dont know". Said Hiter had gone dark on EVERYBODY. Wiltfong is talking about something that was said EIGHT MONTHS AGO. No one knows. That's what makes it all the more crazy, people going sideways over...nothing. Literally.
Those people go off their meds every other week.

I'm fully convinced that half of you tell yourself every player is going to another school just so you can pretend to not be let down if it actually happens.

Wiltfong "leaning Michigan" based on a conversation with Hiter in January...what great intel.

He has no clue just like he didn't with Moa and Rouse. Unless AP lets us down easy before the announcement I will continue to believe he picks us.
Not a bad strategy tbh…if you can actually convince yourself. I tried but still get disappointed 😂

I’m still saying Vol. We heard Vol and nothing changed that would make us think that’s not the case imo. I think Hiter camp wants the moment because they’ve played it so close to vest the whole time and deserve that. They probably leaked some Michigan-friendly “intel” to throw people off after it got out that we were the most likely landing spot. 4 more days and we’ll know. GO VOLS

I personally love these old school recruitments. Sure you may get burned a time or two but the adrenaline rush you get when you land a player like this and didn't know ahead of time is awesome.

Crystal balls and insiders ruined a lot of the fun of recruiting imo.
For me, pre-internet recruiting info meant Sports Talk with Mike Keith. I remember the highs (January of 1994 when Peyton Manning chose Tennessee) and the lows (Tim Couch in December of 1995).

In basketball, would have to add Ron Mercer as a low (ouch!). I understand what you're saying .... these announcements seemed more dramatic when we had less information to sift through.

Initially I thought Hiter would be a TN Vol.
But now I have think he is Michigan bound. Wiltfong has him announcing Michigan on Tuesday.

Hopefully I’m wrong as it’s been yrs since we recruited an elite RB. This kid seems to be the real deal and a RB we (possibly) haven’t had in years @ Rocky Top.
Just to add context to Wiltfong's article

I went over my notes and talked to sources around AA and Knoxville and shook some trees near the Hiter camp. Nothing would surprise me Tuesday. If you make me pulse it which I think it’s my job to do so I’d lean Michigan but UT has done a fantastic job here and we shall see how it falls.

That's Fong code for "I have no freaking clue."
His story had quotes from when Hiter and his family visited Knoxville this summer. So it wasn't any new data. Just said he's been leaning Michigan and nothing new is out there to change his mind. AP still says 50/50. Will be interesting to see if anything leaks after the weekend going into Tuesday

Wiltfong said, "I'd lean Michigan going into the announcement. At the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando, Hiter said Michigan was setting the pace. I'm not sure they've ever left the top of the list."

The Under Armour All-America Game was played on January 2nd, so he isn't forming his opinion on any new information, and it doesn't sound very solid anyway.
Didn’t say he formed his opinion on new info. I commented that I now thought Hiter would commit to Michigan while referencing Wiltfong.

You mean like the guy who just set the single year rushing record last year?

Oh and, Sampson also holds the program's single-season records for rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns, and scoring.
Yes Sampson did well as he was an elite RB in the SEC and ncaa. But again, you took my comment out of context. I’m referring to UT signing an elite 5 star RB out of high school. A five star stud who is the best of the best. But I went back and edited thought you knew wha to meant.

And before you mention high school stats and star rankings don’t mean anything, I am aware high school rankings may not translate to success in college.

This would be our biggest RB recruit since Bryce Brown correct? I know we don’t “need” him but man it would be nice to reel in one of the “big fish” for once.

On another note there appears to be lots of false signals and bull 💩 articles floating around the past few days but from what I can tell this kid nor his family has said a single word to indicate anything. Even Wiltfong has no clue which way this kid is gonna go.

I hope he picks us and I think he will. Makes me sick to my stomach to think that cheating school has a chance to get a slap on the wrist and then a 5 star RB in a span of a few days.

Since there’s still no info out there, I’m still gonna go with my gut and say he picks Vols on Tuesday.

Agree 100%. Let’s hope for the best.

I say Vol.

All of this according to 247...
Kid has been to Knoxville 5 different times; 4 times on his own dime. He was on campus in April, and then came back again a month later. Then he took his official visits, Knoxville being the last of those. No more unofficial visits to anywhere, after those last two times he visited us.

Before his unofficial visits in April and May, the last visits he made before that were to UGA and OSU, all the way back in November. Outside of his official visit in June, he hasn't been to Ann Arbor since October of last year. That's pushing a year since he's been there, outside his official. He's been to Knoxville 4 different times in that span.

Taking it back old school...follow the visits, baby!

Go Big Orange.

For sure, the Moa surprise felt like a throwback to the good old days of recruiting. Wish we could eliminate early signing day and crystal ball lameness.
