And that (the bolded) was my point. Here's my question: is the issue that Hype's scheme prepares them inadequately OR is it that his scheme allows athletes to have elite levels of offensive success who do not possess the elite skills that are typically associated with that level of offensive success at the college level?
The negative recruiting assumes the first. I would argue that the on-the-field results coupled with the recruiting assessments of the players in question, would suggest the second is what's actually happening.
Doesn't matter which is true if the recruits believe it's the first. I just find it fascinating that Hype might actually be "losing elite recruits" because he's designed a system that doesn't require them in order to produce elite results.
I usually try to resist the urge to reply to brain donors who routinely start their replies with "Lmao", and you've done it twice now, but I also couldn't resist acknowledging how you couldn't be straying any further from the actual point, either, which is that perception is reality.Lmao....it's up to the player when they go to the NFL not their offense in college. How about you take a look at Michigan RBs history in the NFL and then look at ours....then get back to me...when you stop feeling like an idiot.
This is one of the dumbest posts I’ve ever seen on here, and that’s saying a lot.The problem is that even with Keys, we will still be 4-6 in SEC recruiting.
That ain't good enough. Ceiling at that rate is 9 wins with a 10 win season every 3-4 years depending
on our schedule.
This is how you know who the blue blood programs in college football are. Tennessee gets busted, and despite being completely cooperative, gets relatively hammered with recruiting restrictions and scholarship reductions. Michigan gets busted, and nada. FFS, they could have at least slapped them with some scholarship reductions. But true bluebloods get protected by the NCAA.He wanted to go to Michigan but Tennessee was pushing hard and a great option, but when Michigan got a slap on the wrist it was an easy decision for him.
Had they faced a 3 year post season ban he would not be going to Michigan today.
Michigan losing Harbaugh was way worse than anything that happened to us. We upgraded at head coach while they are stuck with Sherrone Moore. This is how you know who the blue blood programs in college football are. Getting to the point of fans expecting a better return on investment than what, exactly? Since the 7-6 first season, we have had 11, 9 and 10 win seasons and are coming off a playoff appearance. Also, can you list the "plenty of programs who have experienced more success in that time period"? The only P4 with more wins than us over the past three seasons are Georgia, Ohio State, Bama, Oregon, Michigan, Texas and Penn State. None of those teams have had lesser expectations than Tennessee and none of them came from the depths we were in five years ago.My point is the recruiting classes have all been in the same range since the beginning of Heupel's tenure. Hell, this goes back to the Pruitt era. Hovering around the 12-17 range with the occasional fridge top 10 class depending on recruiting service. Then, turn around and wonder why Ohio State and UGA kick our teeth in. We constantly get told how great and savvy Spyre & the Vol Club is while the quality of the recruiting classes remains status quo.
If you're asking fans to start paying a premium for seats, tacking on a talent fee, asking for additional money through the collective. And then signing a deal with a "lesser" apparel company for financial gain, then there needs to be better returns on the field. The Adidas deal certainly has been a talking point with Tristen Keys, so it's safe to say people are expecting an immediate impact regardless of when it officially goes into effect.
Also, if we're being honest, the transfer portal hauls the last few years outside of Colton Hood & Jermod McCoy have been very underwhelming.
This admin and staff have done a really nice job all around, but it's getting to the point fans deserve & need to start seeing a better return on their investments. Like a few others have mentioned, there are plenty of programs that charge or expect less that have experienced more success than Tennessee over the same period of time.
