'26 VA OL Darius Gray

The staff clearly likes him at guard and doesn’t want him at the tackle position.

Makes sense if that’s why we’ve not pursued very hard.
But that is not what is important here. A recruiting website has place 5 of these star thingys by his name. On signing day, if we have more of the players with 5 of those star thingys then it's basically better than winning actual football games.

Seems random to me that he retweeted that. Maybe we sweetened the pot after yesterday. Not overpaying him but giving him a little extra
If Tennessee believes he is elite for there system playing inside you do sweeten the pot . Michigan with there heavy hitter Nil guy did exactly that for Hiter. Both recruitments are similar. Gray like Hiter best early relationship is TN staff Hiter was Michigan. So yes very similar to see if we pull the trigger here. In CHRIST Alone

FWIW, osu boards were saying that they backed off because he measured at just over 6’1, which kind of makes sense because in this pic he is in cleats and only an inch taller than heupel, who is about 6’1

Lol well it was a nice tonight for 24 hours. Guess the kid was just trying to drum up excitement for his commitment. The Fong said “Nope, no intrigue for you!”
In a pod 2-3 weeks ago AP essentially said he didn't believe we were in play here, while he stated he was confident we led for Hiter and Keys. Don't remember the exact wording and a lot can happen in 3 weeks, but it feels like unless something major changed this ship has sailed.

TIFWIW, after Hiter it definitely seems like blindly throwing darts at a dartboard.

AP has said for a few months now that the staff is prioritizing tackle bodies this cycle. Darius Gray is a great player but I don't know that most teams are breaking the bank for an IOL.

I think Kamari Blair is a much better fit and better value in terms of what we'd have to pay. Believe our attention turns to flipping him.

(Edit: May want to check his thread lol)

Apparently the buzz is currently with SCar. Losing Gray to LSU is one thing, but if we lose him to SCar..... Why would a 5* OL want to play for Slingblade?? It makes zero sense to me.
Steamer at the Student Union on Scar's campus...
YARN | You got any biscuits for sale in there? | Sling Blade ...

The timing of Blair flip right before this announcement could have some connections. At least loose connections possibly.
The YOU ARE OUR GUY line could lose some credibility with the all out pursuit$ of Gray.

Wish there was a way to get a real if you can only get 1 answer from our staff with these 2.

We can smile with the split.

AP said this one was in the works for a couple of weeks. He had the story written before Blair announced
I was thinking the connection was in the opposite direction. I think our coaches might not have given one rats hair about ranking stars. Culture fit/positional flexibility/lower payout requirement. Our coaches preferred Blair. Blair trending to us and Gray trending away for the last few weeks could be connected. We took one over the other. Some things line up there. It could be wrong though.
