'26 VA OL Darius Gray

weren't we in the lead? do we need to be more assertive on the trail?😆

this is one I wanted is to get. hope we get maryville legacy
Don’t think we ever led. Immediately after his visit, he said we were at the top with a couple others. And if you’re not alone at the top right after a visit, you’re probably not going to win out.

Sounds like LSU. Wants tackle money to be a guard
if he doesnt want to come here, honestly id rather spend that money on a Guard in porthole. We were in on plenty last year just didnt close them all.

Got get TK and SH. Those two are once in a blue moon types.

Make no doubt, this dude will
make any team, better.

“Oh, easily it definitely starts with the guys in the O-Line room. Starting with Coach Elarbee. I’d definitely say that’s the main reason for me, and I mean Coach Heup (Josh Heupel), a guy like that running the program, you know, it kind of speaks for itself. Tennessee has been building for years, and they are only scratching the surface. They are getting guys like David Sanders and (JB) Shabazz and all of those guys, you can just see they are going to continue the up trend.”

My reason for picking TN is that Coach E and Heupel have been together all these years and knowing that he will not have to worry about Coach E leaving is huge. Money im sure is equal amount all teams he is considering. Like Vols Chances

Some quotes from Wiltfong's article

“It’s the five,” Gray said. “I see a lot of people have LSU and South Carolina as the front-runners but I wouldn’t take Tennessee out the picture.”

“Tennessee is recruiting me the hardest,” Gray said. “Tennessee and LSU.”

Gray added those two have turned it up down the stretch but again he has a lot of love for all of his finalists.
Tennessee: “Tennessee is great as well. Coach Heupel and Coach Elarbee, their longevity together. I think it’s their 10th season coming up and it’s very rare to find that. I think that’s very important and the class they’re building you can tell they’re going to be a National Championship team in the next few years and you want to be part of something that special.”

hey @Ericvol2096 any news here?

Edit: Fonged to LSU
Fong made that prediction on 5/12 and has it at 60% confidence. This is before our recent surge. This was also in Wiltfong's article today

Tabbed by the Rivals Industry as the nation’s No. 1 interior offensive lineman and No. 31 prospect overall, Gray said his mind is not made up and that it will take a lot of “prayer” to get it down to one.

Think I read somewhere, a couple of months ago, this recruitment would go the distance. With that, and what Gray and others have said...that added to us, in the past few, doing pretty well with kids that go into the season and later...I liked our chances a lot.

Bummer if we miss out. Still like our OL class, though.

And weren’t we named his leader by himself over the summer?
We were rumored to lead months ago. It seems like I remember him publicly saying we led very early on (like sometime last summer or fall), but LSU and SCe have both been rumored to have passed us in the months after that. Since that one statement, he has played it closer to the vest, so any rumors about leaders are probably just coming from people trying to read the tea leaves/off the record comments from college coaches or people around him. As always, in the absence of real information, people throw sh!t at the wall to see what sticks.

Edit: He called us his favorite in June of ‘24. It’s in a post from Fingers on first page of the thread.
