UVA Rape Hoax

That's what I'm saying. From what I read the first the University heard of the Incident was through the article too and they suspended Greek life and most shut down the fraternity in question but then when it started coming out as false, the University president didn't exactly apologize for a knee Jerk reaction.

It's just that 'rape culture' we live in and which is pervasive throughout college campuses. Always believing the accused rapist instead of the victim.

This is actually a pretty decent article written about this:

Cornell Daily Sun

For those wondering, this is what Cornell defines regarding rape:

https://share.cornell.edu/policies-laws/sex-alcohol-and-clear-consent/

That's actually pretty scary:

“failure to recognize that the victim was too drunk to consent is no defense to a charge of sexual assault as defined by the Cornell Code . . . The responsibility for ascertaining [complainant’s] mental state rested upon [accused student], as did the risk of failing to do so.”

So a drunk girl can't consent and the drunk guy is responsible for being too drunk to ascertain the level of inebriation in the girl... even if she is physically in control of herself.

Even if she didn't file a report, you'd best bet the university did a pretty big investigation of their own. Something like this allegation demands it.

Someone spent a lot of money and time tracking down whether she was telling the truth or not.

I completely understand that but still don't see the crime unless she filed an official report.

I hope the writer of the article and the girl with the story serve time in jail. It's nonsense like this that make people doubt rape claims.

There is no way in hell the writer will or should go to jail. That's a bit ridiculous...... Now the girl, I agree.

Both. I am not opposed jail time for the "victim". Both need to suffer some major consequences.

I'm in favor of punishing anybody who falsely accuses someone of a crime by making them serve the sentence that the accused would have been subjected to. In her case jail time and register as a sex offender.
