UT's most embarrassing defeats?

Probably not top of mind, but I thought our season opener loss to UCLA in 2008 was embarrassing. Of course that entire season was embarrassing. We were also ranked 18 and UCLA was atrocious. Far worse than UK. Of course that loss was overshadowed later in the year by one of the most embarrassing losses in Tennessee history, Wyoming, but still bad.

Memphis 1996
Wyoming 2008
North Texas 1975
Ga State 2019
Vandy 2018
Alabama 1990
Vandy 2005

Vandy 2018 amd Wyoming 2008 were direct results of the coaching staff being fired before the season ended. Both of these bone-headed moves were to allow us to be in the front of the line to get a good coach...

Hahahahahaha

Neither of those situations went as planned..

1) Memphis
2) see 1..
3) that LSU SEC champ game I would like to forget..
4} did I mention Memphis 96 yet?

Georgia State is pretty bad tbh.

But UK at home for the first time since I was born is pretty embarrassing.

Don't really get why the UK loss this year is viewed so embarrassing? More for how the Vols played than the actual opponent? I feel like no matter what some UT fans will just always think UK is terrible and deserves to lose by 50. But UK was a fringe top 25 team on paper with a lot of returning players. The first couple games we looked sluggish and were trying to adjust to a new offense post Bowden/Snell years. But honestly on paper I thought we matched up decent against UT. For once Kentucky didn't "Kentucky" themselves and instead it was UT killing themselves.

This year's loss is way less embarrassing than the Ga St or whatever year UK won with a wr at qb. Just my two cents though.

Respectfully if our qb didn't play horrendously that game should've gone very differently. It was especially embarrassing not just because we lost, but we were blown out in a game we should've won by 7-14 points if a competent qb played imo. I don't think your team is that terrible this year, but I think if guarantano shows any kind of competency I think we're far better. The team clearly quit when they saw the qb position fail so spectacularly and that too is incredibly embarrassing. All this doesn't matter of course, just ifs and at the end of the day guarantano played like sh!t and the score was the score. That's just why I think it's so embarrassing.

Here's why the KY loss stings

1) most recent
2) they are doing more with lesser rated recruits.
3) the way we lost and it being a home game. It was one of top 10 to 15 losses imo.

I don't know about picking one game that's embarrassing. There's been a lot to choose from since 2001.

Memphis 1996
Wyoming 2008
North Texas 1975
Ga State 2019
Vandy 2018
Alabama 1990
Vandy 2005
Hah, that 1990 Bama game. FG for the win blocked to Bama FG for the win. That was in the Jinxed era when we were at least as good or better than Bama every year, but they always got lucky and we always choked!

Is that the year you Vol fans boycotted the game and sold your tickets to us? Seem to remember the disparity in fans that year.

Don't know that it was an organized boycott per se but things had already gone south for Fulmer in his final season as coach in his experiment with Dave Clawson.

Stadium was 3/4 crimson by the 3rd quarter.
