UT's most embarrassing defeats?

This year's loss is way less embarrassing than the Ga St or whatever year UK won with a wr at qb. Just my two cents though.

There's no shame in losing to what is a good Kentucky team in a hard fought game by a score. It would still suck, but it would be understandable.

It's getting demolished by a team and watching our guys just quit. We quit in the second half. In a year we were supposed to be improved and we're regressing.

Hats off to Kentucky for a well executed game plan and a much deserved victory.

Thats fair. I agree, it's always frustrating to see a team quit. At least go down swinging. After the half I thought UT had a chance to get right back in it. But they quit definitely.

was in neyland to see chatt loss but felt worse when repeatedly thrashed by alabama in my 20s and 30s.

numbness set in at end of fulmer era. saw some light for program in 2020 game w/ mizzou, but not shocked with fiasco saturday. stopped watching after 2 possessions in 3rd q.

2017 Georgia. I took my gf at the time to her first UT game and we got shutout at home by our rival (with the checkerboard stands and the grey unis). That was the worst time I've ever had a football game, and I sat through '08 Wyoming, '10 Oregon (minus the 13-3 start), and the '06 Marshall rain-delayed pillow fight.

The most mad I've been was losing to Vandy on my Senior Night and having Franklin's assistant coaches flip off the student section as they celebrated after the last second score.

Vanderbilt in '05 - UT started the year ranked #5 in the nation.

Army at home during the Majors years (can't remember which season)

The 9-6 loss to Bammer

North Texas State

USC in Los Angeles in '81 a friend remarked at the time that if you allowed for halftime, timeouts, and when Tennessee had the ball, the Trojans were still moving at about 5 mph.

Nebraska in 1998 and and 2000 Orange Bowls.

Saturday isn't even on the radarscope.

Totally agree; the RTI guys were saying before the season that UK was a very good team; not to mention it was sandwiched between UGA and Bama. UK could easily be undefeated.

Tied Army, but it was like a loss because they were the worst of the service academies in those days. Not nearly the team they are now for sure. The Georgia game right before the USC game was even worse, 44-0. We did rebound that season and go 7-4 and then won a bowl game

Tied Army in 84. Lost to them in 86. Blew leads in both games at end

I could say losing to Florida 63-37 after leading 30-21 at halftime was about as embarrassing a loss we've had along with the 2007 loss 59-20. Both those Vols teams were loaded with talent too, especially the 1995 team

For me it was the 1991 Fiesta Bowl. Scored to go up 17-7 in the third and then proceeded to hand Penn State 5 touchdowns in what seemed about 5 minutes. There is a story that the players tanked it on purpose to stick it to Majors. But there is no video or audio to prove that.

You're a good poster but just no man. UT should just beat Kentucky every year. It's a fact of life.

So when we lose to them, it's equivalent to losing to a GA State. Hell it's worse in my honest opinion.

I honestly can't understand the argument for picking any game other than 1996 Memphis.

Tennessee was #6. That was a bad Memphis team by their own standards (they finished 4-7 that year). Tennessee was QBed by Peyton Manning.

Unfortunately, he's not worse than JG though. He didn't throw two pick 6's. JG is not an average scrambler or don't have designed runs either which makes him more useless when the threat of the pass isn't there.
