Tennessee continues to recruit four-star Roger Saleapaga to be the second tight end in the class. The Vols solidified themselves as a player in this one after he visited unofficially in June. He continues to have positive conversation with the staff and still plans to return to Knoxville for an official in November.
-VQHe has hit it off well with first-year tight ends Coach Alec Abeln. This recruitment could easily drag on later into the cycle as he appears to be in no hurry to make a decision. It would not be surprising to see him narrow his focus some in the near future, though.
Roger Saleapaga released his top schools on his birthday to close out July. After checking into this one more throughout this week, the two teams that continue to be most consistently mentioned are Tennessee and Auburn. Alabama and several others are working hard to be more in the picture, but Saleapaga’s established relationships with the Vols and Tigers have both those programs deep in this recruitment.
-VQRecruiting analyst Aaron Amaama and first-year tight ends coach Alec Abeln continue to make a strong impression on the four-star prospect. While there is a long way to go here, Tennessee has positioned itself well heading into the fall with an official visit still left to use later in the process.
-VQAt tight end, we spoke with Roger Saleapaga earlier this week. He is set for about seven official visits this fall and told us he doesn’t plan on announcing until December 17th. Oregon and Tennessee are at the top for him but this one has a long way to go and it’s frankly way too early to think anyone has an edge. He will visit Tennessee for the Georgia game just one week after seeing USC play at Oregon.
-VQUtah TE Roger Saleapaga is currently set for an official visit in November with the Vols. Alec Abeln has Tennessee deep in this one, in our opinion. Vol recruiting analyst Aaron Amaama also has a strong relationship with Saleapaga and deep ties to the area where is from in Utah. Saleapaga plays things close to the vest, but Tennessee certainly has his interest. He just made a trip to Auburn and the Tigers are a major player as well. This one has the potential to go all the way into December.
