doesn't happen very often because there are a lot of USU fans in surrounding states. i'd assume it does on the east coast though.

UT should win this game and it should not be close. Jones has more talent by a large enough margin that experience should not be a major factor.

I don't want to be "that guy", but it's actually "Agriculture and Mechanical". We're land-grant universities, just like UT, created under the Morrill Land-Grant Act of 1862. All land grant universities, under the conditions of the act, were required to have colleges of agriculture and engineering, hence the A&M. They were also required to have home economics and ROTC programs. Their libraries are federal government document repositories. Many, if not most, of the land-grant universities were known as "Aggies" until the 1950s. At that time, many of them transitioned from colleges to universities, and took advantage of the transition to change their mascots. This included Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Colorado State, and Oregon State. Some have other mascots that reflect the agriculture and engineering background, like the Nebraska Cornhuskers, or the Purdue Boiler Makers. University of Tennessee, as a land-grant university, should be proud to be part of this elite fraternity of public schools.

Sorry about that, and thanks for the correction. I guess I was thinking of 3M Corp. Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, at least I think that's what it stands for.

It won't be close. Utah State is a very good team for the level they play at, but they're going to get out-talented by a significant margin, plus it's a season opener in Neyland and the home field advantage will be huge. It happens. I expect it'll be competitive through the first half, and UT will eventually pull away for a clean win in the second.

Agree. But this is a test of the quality of the coaching staff. They have a young, talented team playing a team with an established system and "enough" talent.

An early test to see if the staff is better at coaching than they showed in '13.

I guess that explains why it wasn't close when USU played at USC (better than tennesee), Wisconsin (better than tennesee), Auburn (better than tennesee), TAMU (was about your level at the time the game was played), and oklahoma (better than tennesee). And I guess that's also why you struggled with a sunbelt team just one season ago when troy came to town.

You guys do well in your money games most of the time. But the best teams you play in these money games are sun belt teams.

Sagarin would have had USU as a 9 point favorite on a neutral field last season, and that is with our starting QB, RB, OL, WR, TE out for the year on offense. I don't think USU would win that game, but I do think it would have been closer than the blowout you seem to expect. But who knows. Maybe tennesee next year is better than defending national champs auburn or rose bowl bound wisconsin was, because USU is certainly better now than they were in those two games.

your recruiting class is impressive. your history is impressive. the stadium and the fans are impressive. even the victory over south carolina. besides those, there isn't a lot to be impressed about, and USU isn't going to be intimidated. I guarantee USU is more than 7 points better than south alabama was last year.
