Utah State

Facetious? Moi? Surely not!

But seriously, if we finish the season in the top 30, I will be ecstatic. My realistic hopes are to win our division, go to a decent bowl against a mid range PAC-12 team, and win in the bowl game.

Winning our conference and/or beating an SEC team would be success beyond my wildest dreams.

And again, no matter what happens, Aggie Nation will be cheering on the Vols for the rest of the season!

Go Vols! Go AGGIES!

A lot easier to finish in top 25 when your don't have an SEC schedule.

We would probably be undefeated and still have Dooley as our coach if we played in the Big 10 or Big East or conference like yours--no offense.

And we would probably be undefeated in the MWC (or 5-7 in the sec) if we had sec recruited players, the ability to draw on 50 times the athletic budget, the facilities the vols have, and 100k fans at every home game like yours--no offense.

lol wut

Man just able to catch up on this thread while sitting here entertaining at the Mavs game. Geez NBA bball sucks, but the beer helps.

Anywho...after reading all this I think many of the defend CBJ folks really have no place to bash Dooley. Frankly 100% of the stuff they threw out could be used during each year of his era.

With that said...I really think people underestimate the fact that Worley faced Clowney multiple times, and beat him in HS. Knowing this one particular factor does not allow me to hang my hat on the win as if it's some great sign that CBJ is going to be the next Neyland. Will he be??? Who knows, hope he is, but I agree with the folks that are still sitting back, watching, and taking it day by day.

My 2 cents and I'm sure the usual suspects will call me an idiot. I know what yall feel about me, and frankly could care less.

I actually find myself agreeing with you most of the time. What does that make me?

Or, ... are you the coach?

they lost a ton. about 20 guys off the 2 deep on O and D. who knows how healthy keeton will be.

we are all worried about how keeton is going to be. he is supposed to be back to normal by june, giving him 2 months of full practice before the game. ACL injuries aren't what they used to be, but I have to imagine it would hurt his confidence when he scrambles.

as for the rest of the 2-deep, we still return a lot of good players on defense and some play-makers on offense. We played about 15 guys in the front 7 every game on rotation and we return a good chunk of that experience. Overall, we should be better than we were last year. I expect to beat wake at home, probably by 10+ and I think that we have a decent shot at winning @ neyland. Our last few road bcs games (@usc, @wisconsin, @utah, @auburn, @oklahoma, @tamu) were all losses but none of them by more than one score. If we make a 35 yard FG vs wisconsin to end the game, we are probably in the orange bowl.

Saw a thread on yall board. I know there are some on here that are sure we gonna whip yall. Im sorry about them . There are delusional fans in every fan base . We have thousands of posters here so you will notice more delusional ones. As for me, im nervous about this game. It is not gonna be an automatic win. We are on our way back up , and yall are playing us at the right time . Lucky yall got us this year instead of next. Hope for an injury free game on both sides

I understand. last time my alma mater played you guys (Oregon), there was a lot of talk on here about SEC speed, home field (Oregon plays in a dinky stadium half our size, blah blah), that LMJ hadn't been hit like he would by tennesee, etc. Oregon fans were up in arms about the disrespect, saying tennesee had bad fans (I believe there was a particularly hilarious youtube video of a tennesee fan saying they'd blow out oregon and that he made another one last year maybe too).

Well, after the game, all the oregon fans who went to neyland said it was the best experience they had ever had. the fans were great, the atmosphere was awesome, etc. So i'm sure the people mouthing off don't represent the majority. I'm hoping to make it out to tennesee and find out myself.

It's really unfortunate to have to open the year in 2014 against them. They are a good football team that knocked off NIU last night and pretty much shut down Lynch. Win, and it will be no big deal to anyone outside of Knoxville - you're supposed to win your home opener against a non conference team. Lose, and there will be a chernobyl like meltdown on VN and BJ will lose much of the fan base before the season even gets started.

Thoughts?

Well gee you got me all scared now...I mean they beat mega powerhouse NIU

Honestly, with most things, it looks like we are going to argue about this until the cows come home. I think Utah State is going to be a challenge, and they are a good football team. However, I don't think we lose, there's no way in hell. We finally have a coach that understands what it takes to get the players motivated to win games like Utah State.

I just can't wait for the season to start. Welcome Aggie fans..keep coming back so we can swap swack since there's no football to watch.

I love Butch. However, In response to your post, someone will ask you, "but what about the Vandy game? That loss shows he could lose to Utah State?"
