'26 UT WR Salesi Moa (Tennessee commit)

"In Pope’s previous four years with the program, the Volunteers have generated an SEC-best 26 individual 100-yard receiving games and multiple first-team All-SEC recipients, while sending at least one player to the NFL every season. Tennessee’s four drafted wide receivers since the spring of 2022 ranks tied for second in the nation over the span."

I'm sorry but the Pope can't develop WR's narrative is a lame argument. If you want to say he has whiffed on some evaluations in recruiting in his earlier cycles that's fair but the truth is the talent in the WR room last year was simply not good.

Take a look at where all those guys ended up (Squirrel - Florida State, Leacock - Purdue, Webb - Maryland, Nimrod - USF.) None of them were SEC caliber recievers other than maybe Squirrel who was just too small to stay healthy in this conference.

People want to criticize coaches like Elarbee and Pope when they are just now getting their hands on elite SEC talent. Pope is currently ranked as the 11th best recruiter in the nation (2nd best WR coach behind Brian Hartline at OSU) this cycle and Keys is still a possibility, which would likely vault him into the top 5.

Whether these coaches can truly develop talent will be shown these next couple seasons. Have some patience people.

Guys like Webb were poison in the well as well

If an entire position group has the same issue, you can’t absolve the position coach and be like “He doesn’t play the position. It’s not his fault!”

It’s the job of the position coach to teach the fundamentals. Pope still has an opportunity to improve how he develops his players. He’s young. But he is absolutely responsible for how the receivers perform and to say otherwise is stupid.
Whenever ball meets hands, it is ALL player at that point, especially if he's wide open.

Squirrel White had offers from Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, and Michigan. Nathan Leacock had offers from Michigan, UNC, Florida, and Miami. Kaleb Webb had offers from Michigan and Ole Miss.

I agree it isn't solely on Pope, but he also isn't completely off the hook. Talented or not, those were his guys. He's got to produce and coach up his guys. It wasnt just dropping passes. It was an inability to get open at times. And yes, many times they got open only for Nico or Milton to not make a read or fail to deliver the pass. It isn't all on one facet. Still, Pope has talent coming in. Lack of talent isn't going to be an excuse going forward.

yeah I didn't have the best day predictions wise on Moa but I thought we had a solid chance until Adam Gorney told me in the chat "he really liked his Utah pick"

No excuse ever. Just like it should be none of that sissy-assed complaining.

Man, people still complain about Tim Banks at times 😂. Personally I’m with you here but it’ll fall on deaf ears.

Don’t let anybody ever say that you are anything but consistent. You predict every bigtime recruit to commit to someone else.

….and also, his brother, Aisea Moa, who was also a Utah legacy, went to BYU. His other brother, Sione Moa, went to Utah State, and later transferred to BYU. Maybe the Moa family isn’t so big on Utah. Salesi’s dad seems to be the outlier.
They're all Utah fans according to Cain, also his Dad played at Utah. So he is a legacy. And its a huge get.
