'26 UT WR Salesi Moa (Tennessee commit)

Coach Pope Resume

Mike Matthews (5 star)
Braylon Stanley (Top 100 player)
Travis Smith (Top 100 player some sites)
Radarius Jackson (Top 100 player some sites)
Joakim Dodson ( 4 star)
Tyreek King ( Top 50 player)
Legend Bey (Top 250 ATH)
Selesi Moa ( 5 star ATH)

But he’s not a good recruiter?! Until today???

Got Thornton drafted into the NFL.

He’s BEEN A GOOD RECRUITER.
Literally his whole time on Tennessees coaching staff hes been one of the best!

But because Ohio State signs two 5 STARS at WR every year, Pope sucks…
Hey good on you for making an effort. Like I said in our last chat, new season new you. Look at you go! Good job bud!

"But...but...but...Adam Gorney told me, it's always been Utah"

- @Volman678

It may very well be Utah; but, UT has definitely made it A LOT closer and interesting, otherwise it would have been Utah a month ago, two weeks ago, today (he and his family are still talking to Heup and crew). Not going to be surprised at all, if he chooses Vols.

I knew we had a better chance than most assumed but I still leaned Utah. Great job by Pope and the staff. I’ve been very critical of Pope, but I must say he’s killing it in recruiting atm. Just need to see the on field translate.

I want someone else to suggest Pope gets a raise. I am entertained by the discourse that ensues but never engage...
I'm ready for my crow on Coach Pope

The Tennessee Volunteers' commitment from Salesi Moa on July 31, 2025, is a significant coup for the program, bolstering their 2026 recruiting class and enhancing their future prospects on both sides of the ball. Here’s why this commitment is important. 1. **Elite Talent Acquisition**: Moa, a five-star athlete from Ogden, Utah, is ranked as the No. 2 athlete and No. 31 overall prospect in the 2026 class per 247 Sports Composite. His versatility as a two-way player—excelling at wide receiver, safety, and returner—adds a dynamic playmaker to Tennessee’s roster. His junior season stats (58 receptions, 800 yards, 10 TDs) highlight his offensive potential, while his defensive skills as a center fielder showcase his range and ball skills.(5-star athlete Salesi Moa commits to Tennessee football, vaulting Vols into top 10 for 2026 class) (https://www.on3.com/teams/tennessee...ts-tennessee-football-2026-class/85371253007/) 2. **Boost to Recruiting Class Ranking**: Moa’s commitment vaults Tennessee’s 2026 class to No. 9 nationally, per 247Sports, strengthening their recruiting momentum under coach Josh Heupel. As the third five-star commit alongside quarterback Faizon Brandon and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, Moa elevates the class’s ceiling, positioning the Vols to compete with SEC powerhouses.(https://www.knoxnews.com/story/spor...oa-commits-to-tennessee-football-01k0f9xk450e) 3. **Positional Flexibility and Depth**: Tennessee plans to utilize Moa primarily as a wide receiver, with potential defensive snaps, following the blueprint of players like Boo Carter. With only seven scholarship wide receivers currently on the roster, Moa’s addition addresses a critical need, joining Tyreek King and Legend Bey to form a formidable receiver group. His ability to play both ways offers strategic flexibility, a rare asset in modern college football.(https://www.rockytopinsider.com/202...e-volunteers/news/impact-analysis-salesi-moa/) 4. **Historic Recruiting Milestone**: Moa is the first Utah native to commit to Tennessee football, expanding the program’s recruiting footprint. Beating out strong contenders like Utah, Michigan, Michigan State, and Washington underscores Heupel’s growing recruiting prowess, especially with his personal ties to Utah from his time at Weber State and Snow College.(Tennessee Football Lands Commitment of Five-Star Athlete With Two-Way Potential | Rocky Top Insider) 5. **Long-Term Impact Potential**: Analysts project Moa as a potential star, with Rivals’ Cody Bellaire praising his ā€œdominant ball skills and movement patternsā€ and On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicting he could be one of Tennessee’s best players by his sophomore year. His 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame, combined with elite athleticism, makes him a matchup nightmare, capable of impacting games in multiple phases.(Impact Analysis: Salesi Moa) 6. **Cultural and Program Momentum**: Moa’s decision reflects Tennessee’s appeal as a destination for top talent, drawn to the ā€œbiggest stageā€ of SEC football. His commitment, announced live on CBS Sports, caps a red-hot July for the Vols, who secured five commitments in a week, signaling a program on the rise. This momentum could influence other high-profile targets, like LSU commit Tristen Keys, whom Tennessee continues to pursue.(https://www.on3.com/teams/tennessee...e-volunteers/news/impact-analysis-salesi-moa/) In summary, Salesi Moa’s commitment is a game-changer for Tennessee, adding a versatile, high-impact athlete, elevating their recruiting profile, and reinforcing their upward trajectory in the competitive SEC landscape.(Five-star athlete Salesi Moa commits to Tennessee over Utah)
