1. Vandy almost beat Arky, Uf, and UGA. Three teams that dominated us.
2. They have good qb play and play 60 min and don't lack confidence.
3. We seem to be getting worse where last year we turned the corner.

I am going to the game and supporting my team...but am I the only one who now thinks Vandy is a better overall squad than us in 2011? I am trying to think of the reasons why we beat these guys. In my mind they are the favorites and we have to have everything go right to win. How do we do that? What's our game plan?

Sure, it will be a tough game, but people who make Vandy out as some sort of world-beaters should get their heads examined.

Vandy is in the place Uk was for about 3 years. They should have beaten us at least once from 06-10. But we had pretty decent teams that found a way. This team has no business beating anybody decent. So I feel we should lose to Vandy and if we don't I'll be the first to celebrate like it's 1999.

Nobody says they are world beaters, some like me think they are better coached.
Again, as its been said many times before, they are loaded with upperclassmen and Franklin, being a breath of fresh air, is taking advantage of that. Get back to me next year when they are back to their perennial last place spot in the East.

So you think Vandy caught UF with all their guns? Seemingly we are the only one who caught them healthy. Despite what anybody may say, I think Bray will play. That is the difference maker. Also UGA beat us by 8 and UF by 10 respectively. Arkansas was ugly but, here comes a sea of negativity... but we blew at least 8 plays that cost us gravely against Arkansas on the scoreboard one way or the other.

IMO UT Wins 31-17 with Bray. No Bray Vandy 24-21.

It does piss me off a little bit that Franklin has brought confidence and great play calling to Vandy. I am still not sure what DD has brought to UT except a top notch qb in Bray. What does DD do well? I mean with all due respect...what is his nitch?

He helped salvage Kiffin's class, that included Bray, and that cannot be understated. He recruits extremely well given the circumstance he is in. I personally cannot wait until Dooley does turn it around and every single fair-weather Vol fan will come clamoring back singing his praises. I hate people like that.

Bray was an EE, but I do agree that Dooley is a pretty good recruiter.

Kiffin's ee had already started classes and couldn't have left if they wanted to. Really tired of hearing how he swooped in and saved the day. Classes had started, those EE's would have had to sit out a year if they left so please can we put this to bed.

You said it before I could. So can we get to what exactly does DD bring to the table? Vandy is on the verge of beating us in our own house and I just want answers.

Stability. Pride. Intelligence. Recruiting skills. People who think he doesn't know how to coach football are the ones who sit on their couch and think THEY can coach football.

In the words of George "Bad News" Cafego - The former Vol tailback was so adamant in his dislike for Vanderbilt that he once refused to speak to a colleague who had even dared talk to the Commodores about a position in Nashville.

Bad News did not believe in ever giving any respect to the "little sister school Vandy"

One of General Neylands favorites - "George Cafego is the best sophomore," Neyland wrote in 1938. "He will do as he is told. He is easily coached. He is very well grounded in fundamentals. His game is well-rounded and balanced. He is tough and can take a lick."

The players and coaches should read up on Cafego this week and bring the fight to the Dores

Interesting. Please share how you came up with thses 4 points. I also take it that we're a lock to win Sat in your mind.

Let me enlighten you. Stability is obvious. You would have to be brain-dead to not know how having Dooley allows UT to get back on even footing after the Fulmer-Kiffin debacle. Pride, also obvious. He bought into UT, and has his players buying into UT. The VFL program is nice to see. There is no doubt he is intelligent. He knows what he is doing, the problem is that he doesn't have the pieces to fully implement it. And recruiting is also obvious. We are on pace to bring in a top 10 class this year. That is good to see with all of the problems UT has had of late. And I know that UT typically sells itself, but Dooley and his staff still have to evaluate the talent and lets not pretend that every recruit we have in this class would've come to UT regardless of who was coaching here.

It's a rivalry game, chances are it will be close. It doesn't matter how bad either side is...

The lions beat the Packers last year.... I'm just saying.

I went to the AR @ Vandy game, and the Tennessee @ AR game last night.

Clearly, Tennessee has better athletes. Quicker. Faster. Stronger. Tennessee will be outcoached if last night was an indicator.

Coach Franklin's athletes are not the best at their positions, but he manages to put each one in the best position, at the right time. He's very smart.

That's how smart coaches beat better athletes.
