UT/ UF Game Thread

If I pay my fees for season tickets I have a right to say how bad we are playing. Never said we were worst team in America. We are just playing bad. I am sure if this was the football team many would be having hay day with Fulmer

It'll be interesting to see how they respond in the second half. I've never seen a Bruce Pearl team just quit. They're playing for pride, now. After that first half, losing by the current margin or less would have to be considered a moral victory.

Of course, we're not about moral victories.

Would not have changed THIS game, but..

1) Do our players spend 5 minutes in a week practicing free throws?
2) Shot selsction, when you are this outmanned, make every shot a good one.
3) Slow the game down and play some defense.

Well that was ugly. But Florida played really well and UT not well at all. 26-6 rebound margin.

Anyone who thought we could win this game even WITH Lofton is fooling themselves.

But it's not that important of a game. The home games are the BIG games.

That's the thing - we can't slow the game down and play some defense, because we score in spurts, in transition. The sad reality is that we're not a very good halfcourt offense team. This is why teams who can play uptempo and are also big and strong down in the post (Florida, North Carolina, etc.) have their way with us.

what is this defense thing of which you speak?

Every game is starting to get big. We are going to keep not worrying about losses and back ourselfs out the tourney. I think we must beat UF or UK at home to get in. I think our conference record is going to kill us. We may be on the bubble real soon.

Also, the NCAA selection committee, if we're on the bubble, is not going to look kindly upon losing by 30 or 40 to Florida.

We pretty much HAVE to sweep all 3 upcoming home games to have a chance. And we're going to need Lofton to play, at least some, to win any of them.

I know it is not Pearl's style. But they have to be capable of changing style for a game if needed. They should have been aiming to keep this game at a slow pace from the tip.

At the sametime...be sure to support Robert Meachem, in the Contest thingy which comes on right after the Iowa game on ESPN which has less than a minute remaining....

Go Vols / Meach!

You all talk as if you think this game is over. Did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Wow. We were outrebounded 26-6. SIX REBOUNDS IN A HALF??? Insane.

11/12 from the line for Florida, as well, vs. 2/9 for us.

Jeez folks, we're getting hammered by the #1 team in the country, at their place, all while missing our All-American guard. People are acting like its the dang Apocalypse.

Everybody just needs to simmer down and see what happens during our upcoming home stretch, which hopefully will include a healthy Lofton.

Last year's UT basketball team really spoiled a lot of folks, I think.

Go Vols!
