UT Shouldn't have Fired Dooley!

You're right. You've done a stellar job already.

Hence, the joke from the movie.

Honestly, my wife is from Austin and we lived there the first 5 years of our marriage and still visit as often as possible....great town.

Obviously, anyone who thinks that Dooley should have kept his job belongs in a nuthouse. Nevertheless, a better question is "Was there any point in firing Dooley if you were going to let Dave Hart make your next coaching hire?"

Frankly, I dont find anything humorous about the previous 6 years of Tennessee football. Its to a point where I struggle to have much emotion at all.

Tongue and cheek is always welcome, but dont expect it to be well received in any place other than the Pub.

It's like scooping half the crap out of a litter box....it's still going to smell, just not as bad, I guess.

My apologies OP. I have to say that I didn't read your entire post obviously. Neither did most of the people who have responded. I see the humor and sarcasm in it now. Keep in mind though, most people are a little edgy when it comes to the previous coach. Hell, in fact, most true UT fans are pretty pissed off and cant find the humor or positive in anything anymore. Fortunately, I'm an optimist. Good day sir. :salute:

As a life-long Vols fan myself, you have to chose to laugh or cry about the last few years. I figure there are plenty of threads already out there to cry on, just thought I would attempt one to laugh on.

As the poet once wrote, "distance makes the heart grow fonder" and as the clouds of judgment gather, I want to be the first to start blaming UT for firing CDD.

While this thread may be "too soon" for many UT fans, I have witnessed the murky memories bestowed on former UT HCs by VN posters and I just want to be able to remind everyone, years down the road, that I was the first to point out that UT screwed up by firing the great Derrick Dooley.

This may sound completely crazy now but, in time, when others begin reminiscing the good ole days of the "Emaculate Interception" when Eric Gordon intercepted then-unranked Vanderbilt to pull out a win in OT, just remember who said it first.

And who will ever be able to hold back the tears of pride after Dooley's 2012 Vols bravely gave up 721 total yards to Sun Belt Conference powerhouse Troy in the impressive 7 point win in Knoxville.

These and other memories of a legendary coach, robbed of immortality by greedy school administrators and clueless fans, will one day come to haunt the University of Tennessee and the proud tradition of the orange painted dog.

And I will be there when Freak has to merge all the "UT Shouldn't Have Fired Dooley" threads. Just to say "I told you so".

It's flat-out amazing the number of dip****s here that are either too stupid to catch the obvious sarcasm or too lazy to bother reading the OP. Yet they still respond. Smh

Vince must have put her in her place before Derrick got fired. I didn't hear anything out of her.
