I would prefer a back-loaded schedule. Build confidence early, and then you can have a very special season if you steal the tough ones at the end.

Even if you start well on a front-loaded schedule, the pressure only builds to maintain your position as the season goes on.

Kentucky has a back loaded schedule almost every year. Seems like they don't know what kind of team they have until late October every year. They even gave stoops a raise half way through last year and then he dropped 7 in a row (I think). Gotta be tough to be a cat fan and think you're good and find out you're not 1/2 way through the season.

Plus Fla always seems to lose 2-3 of its best players to injury or suspension about halfway through the year, so it would be nice to move them back some on the schedule.

Nah - they know they're not good before then.

Nah - they know they're not good before then.

I live on the state line and they think they're beating us by 21 and winning the east every year.

I heard two guys talking at the store before the season started and ,I kid you not, one told the other one that he'd "love to get Florida in a bowl game this year". This is what we're dealing with up here.

Can't decide if I like our schedule set-up or not.
Stings when we play the heavy front loaded part but
leaves a good feeling in the off season as we roll through the back end.
I guess it's better to roll at the end before the longr off season.

Every team complains about scheduling when they lose.

Worked out fine in 98. Even that year, though, Arky was an unexpected landmine in a heretofore soft part of the schedule.

Just play them one at a time.

Our offensive numbers have been decent all year.
That's not saying that Debord hasn't made mistakes on a calls but him "sucking" has been greatly over exaggerated.
But honestly OC's and DC's make easy targets.

I find it crazy that so many people want an oc/dc fired after a few games and exclaim that they are worthless and they suck. Heck, we put up 400 rushing yards in our first game and people still called for his head after the Oklahoma game. With all the injuries, our offense has been playing lights out! People are so quick to judge.

...4th in the SEC vs the conference in total O only 6.4 ypg behind MSU for 3rd. They're 3rd in scoring O at 30.2 ppg, 2nd in rushing ypg, and 6th in passing O.

IMO, this is VERY good not only for the team's prospects for winning out but also recruiting.

UT could finish higher if they play well in these last 4 games. They need to roll Vandy like Houston did.

I think we score 45 on Saturday
60+ against North Texas
28-31 against Missouri
35-40 on Vandy

This team is about to go on a TEAR.

If our schedule was back-loaded people would whine about having to play the tough opponents with a banged up team.

Of course now we are playing the lesser teams with half our starters on the side lines, wishing they were healthy enough to play.

It is going to depend on Jones... I know... I default there. But hear me out. Some coaches are better with the unknowns of an early season than others. I think that was a key advantage for Spurrier vs Fulmer. Jones had a slow start to begin this season. He tipped us off with that bit about not really knowing your team until 3 or 4 games in. He'll have to be better than that to beat McElwain.

BUT.... there shouldn't be any problem knowing his team next year. It will be almost the same guys on O and many of the same on D.

Meh...Butch "beat" McElwain this year. Scumbag squirmed out of it, that's all.:banghead2:

I have to give Jones and his staff some credit. After the Arkansas game, when they really felt the orange blowtorch on their buttcheeks from the fanbase, I have seen a different mindset during games. More aggressive coaching, more of a go-for-it default temperament, no sitting on leads, etc. They adjusted on both sides of the ball, it seems to me.

Seems like they got the message. It paid off with GA, with AL, and it paid off with KY. They grew some stones, it appears.

I may be wrong but it seems to me they may have heard a little of the mob with torches and pitchforks calling for their heads on their doorsteps...the national criticism-articles, the call-in shows, the fansites, the questions at the pressers, etc.

Welcome to the SEC, Butch, and welcome to Big Orange Country. Just win, baby.

Arky was undefeated that year when they played us. Could very well have played in the title game instead of us. Not unexpected THAT year.

If we have good depth and experience in all position,I would prefer a back loaded schedule; if not a front loaded schedule.

I was critical of DeBord and the staff as a whole. Rightfully so.

I, as true with most critics, wanted adjustments and a turnaround. I wanted Jones to practice the Maxims he preaches.

They look to have adjusted and the UGA game looked to be a lynchpin. Glad with progress so far but 2016 will cause me to buy or sell on the staff.

There are still plenty of problems to fix and still a lot of games to play but we're on the right track for recovery.

I don't know if I'll ever get over that Florida nor the Oklahoma disasters.
