UT close to deal with Jeff Brohm

:good!::good!: Thanks goodness it is basketball season now and it looks like we can enjoy winning...if CHW can stop the turnover..if not it will be a bad day at black rock season.

I would still rather have kiffin. 6 months ago I would have chosen a back alley vasectomy over kiffin, not after what I've witnessed this fall. Nope. Just really think I'm done with UT for a while. 3rd gen alum, time to step back or maybe away for awhile. There is only one reason we don't have a the best of the best, and it's the House of Haslam.

This is the second richest program in the country on its own without booster funds and the fans just keep on settling for mediocrity and hoping for a few crumbs of success. THIS IS NOT UT FOOTBALL!

Hopefully if they hire him we will see some good Assistants come to the program. Butch never wanted to hire anybody that he couldn't control. I think Brohm will let guys do their job so he needs some capable people to come with him to the Tennessee program.
Hopefully were not keeping any of the butch holdovers unless Gillespie wants to stay.

Apparently he’s a humble guy who knows offense as well as anyone, and preaches toughness. Doesn’t seem like the guy to manhandle his DC, but the offense is gonna be his. Fine with me.

He is a good man but not a great coach. He will never win the East. That's a fact. We will LOSE every year to Georgia, Florida and Alabama. This being said, I guess UT thinks they can do no better. Sad isn't it.

He's actually a very good coach and his players love him. May want to fact check and not just spew BS. He's won everywhere he's been and is highly respected by his peers. That is a fact.

Don't know much personally about Brohm other than where he's coached at and his relative success while there. Can somebody answer, and doesn't need much detail, but is Brohm a high character guy? It would be nice to have a successful coach, but also a stand-up person after this last go around with Butch.

If we get Brohm, it will take people time to warm up to him. He is not flashy, still drives his 2004 Honda to work, and he won't win the interviews but the dude can flat out coach football and his player respect him.

Thanks for the local knowledge....I'm fine with this guy....Let's go vols!!

Purdue record 2013-2016 without Brohm:
2013: 1-11
2014: 3-9
2015: 2-10
2016: 3-9
2017 with Brohm: 6-6

Home Run hire at any stage of the search, ESPECIALLY at this stage.

I’m not sure what program you guys think you’re cheering for? Sadly, this is a home run for us right now. Honestly if you do your research he’s did some good things. He has gotten decent recruiting classes at Purdue and has won games when the program wasn’t before. Give this guy a chance.

We can forget about the Kiffin nonsense. I could get behind it but Currie is smart enough to know some would protest bringing Kiffin back into Knoxville. He’s trying to save his job. It’s yhecsafest hire for him and probably the safest available hire for us as well.

I agree he's probably close to the best we can do right now, but he is in no way a "home run".

A home run is a home run no matter the state of the program. If he wasn't a home run a week ago, he's not a home run today. The definition doesn't change just because our expectations are lowered.

Kiffin would have been a home run
Gundy would have been a home run
Petersen would have been a home run

Brohm is not a home run

No offense to Mr. Brohm, but he's an unknown at this level.

And will we also inherit his staff? How good can they be?

With as much $$$ as we're waving around, why must we suffer with the risk of unknown?

It's not only embarrassing it's illogical.

Disagree on Brohm. He's been one of my favorites since the start. Haven't seen one thing negative about him or his coaching.

If a deal IS made, I wouldn't expect it to be announced til after 5 Dec... apparently his buyout drops by a million after the 5th.

Heard the same thing about Dooley when we hired Butch. "You can count on one thing, our team will be competitive in every game! Team was soft with Dooley!"

A friend of mine played at UK and his son was recruited by UK but he chose WKU under Brohm. They were really impressed with his program there. This would be a great hire under current circumstances.

I don't care about anyone's character if they win. I'd take Art Briles all day and not lose a wink of sleep over it.
