UT Biggest Spender

If we don't travel all over we'll join Vandy at the bottom of the SEC. It's cost of doing biz all things being equal. Were not located in south FL.

Everybody knows that Tennessee spends more money on recruiting than anybody else. It is honestly not a big deal.

Don't you just love some of these summer-time threads.

We don't need another "UT spends more than anyone in recruiting" thread. Old news and has been old news for more years than I can count.

Guess what: we are going to be spending the most again this year and the year after that...

... or it wasn't when we were pulling Top 5 classes. The results need to catch up with the process (of spending hand over fist).

Location is a factor, but Vanderbilt is also located in Tennessee, has no athletic tradition to speak of, also had a losing record last year, likely spends a small fraction of UT's budget, and is at present well ahead of UT in the Rivals 2013 team rankings. I'd think UT should be able to swing classes in the 20s for much cheaper if that's the route they choose.

At present?! You know what July recruiting rankings are worth, right?

Gold?

Just going by what's available. I'd guess that we close some ground and end up roughly equal with Vandy, which doesn't really change any of my points.

I was kinda hoping UTAD spent 40 brazillion dollars, since what they spend concerns all of us soooooooo much. Jeez, will fall camp ever get here?

When adding cars, suits, jobs for girlfriends...bama beats us.

When adding payment to players, Clemson takes the crown.

Tenn needs to learn HOW to spend all that money. You don't have to fly all around the country; just do like most and spend it on players. I know: It's very complicated---but bammer has it figured out.

Screw the negavol. This is a positive. You have to concentrate on your weakness. Our weakness has been a dearth of talent so to solve it, you have to go to the ends of the earth to get great players. You need a big budget when you have a lot less instate talent than your competitors. Way to go Dooley.

The instate talent issue does not hold water because rarely does Tennessee lock down the elite talent that it has within its borders. We tend to focus more on the Atlanta region.

Did they renovate Estabrook? Lord that building used to scare me to death. I can't remember what class I had in there, but walking into that building felt like walking into someplace that should have been condemned. I think a sneeze could have caused that building to fall over. If it took installing printing presses to get it renovated, it was worth it.

This time last year Vandy was ahead of us in all recruiting rankings. How'd that end up?
