D White has already been around Golesh enough to know if he is P4 HC material. One thing about White is he knows what it takes. He may have him on a future list or he may have already put him on not the right stuff list. I trust D white his past & family have been doing this forever. So we are in good hands going forward IMO.

What TN is missing is Alex Golesh’s balls. The fake punt, the go routes and shot plays. Like it wasn’t necessarily a beautiful game, but the pressure offensively was unreal.

And brown is kind of the ideal QB for the system, under appreciated, nice deep ball. Hit a few shot plays, hit a few PI’s, and pick up 5-6 first downs with your legs.

Golesh would probably be the logical choice, if God forbid Huepel left for Oklahoma or the NFL. It would be the smoothest transition, considering he basically runs the same offense. Kind of the way Auburn hired Gus Malzahn after Gene Chizik was fired. Lance Leipold at Kansas would also be a likely candidate since Danny hired him at Buffalo.

I will agree with you that one thing Tennessee lost when Golesh left was a level of strict discipline. Golesh was "bad cop" to Huepel's "good cop" nature. They did lose some of that dynamic when Golesh left.

It’s easier on the play caller in this offense when you have a willing and able runner at qb. Last 2 of our basically ran out of panic, especially Nico who started freaking out when his first read wasn’t open after a 2 second staring contest

He's 14-12. Maybe pump the brakes a little.
He took over a program that won 4 games COMBINED over 3 seasons from 2020-2022. And he's managed a winning record both seasons he has been there. He's put together some tough games against big time opponents, like Bama in 2023.

I promise you, Golesh won't be at USF long. Don't be surprised if we see him in the SEC soon.

If Napier is terminated, I pray Glorida doesn't hire Alex.

He's had 1 win vs a P4 team and has consistently been shut down by inferior teams

Did you miss where I said he took over a team that won 4 games combined the previous 3 years before he arrived? I really don't see how you can say he has been shutdown be inferior teams when the team he took over might have been the worst team in the FBS.

What inferior teams is he losing to? It's pretty hard to be inferior to the USF squad he took over.

From what I have read, USF has a lot of older players and the quarterback had a good year two years ago he was injured last year. Last night, USF finished what they started. They look to be an interesting team to watch this year. Glad Nimrod got some big plays. Also, Boise State was caught napping when USF snuck in their backup quarterback in on the fake punt that became a long touchdown pass.

it wasn't the worst in FBS, but even then, he routinely still gets shut down by inferior teams. It's understandable to lose to Bama and Miami, but UAB, FAU, UTSA, Navy, Rice putting up 50 on you and shutting down your offense is a bit much. I like the guy as a OC, but let's stop pretending he is some whiz kid

Inferior to who? USF? Cause last year he lost to only 1 team that finished behind USF in the conference (Rice).
Well of course teams that beat you usually finish ahead of you in conference standings. A better measure would be to list his 10 best wins at USF:

1. Syracuse (6-7) - 45-0 (bowl game)
2. Boise St (likely 8-4) - 34-7
3. San Jose St (7-6) - 41-39 (bowl game)
4. Navy (5-7) - 44-30
5. Rice (6-7) - 42-29
6. Charlotte (5-7) - 59-24
7. Connecticut (3-9) - 24-21
8. FAU (3-9) - 44-21
9. Temple (3-9) - 27-23
10. UAB (3-9) - 35-25

This is just ignorance.

Again 4 wins in 3 seasons before he arrived. Who was worse in the FBS during that time? They were no better than a bottom 5 FBS team before he took over and that is simply a fact that cannot be argued against. Do you understand how hard that is to turn around? Especially as a 1st time HC where it's harder to get talent to come in.

Also, none of those teams you listed were inferior to USF. Especially not in year 1. The worst performance was against UAB this year. Navy won 10 games last year and was ranked at one point, so IDK wtf you are talking about there. Rice didn't shut them down either.

So beating Navy isn't impressive, but losing to a 10-3 Navy team is somehow losing to an inferior team.... got it.

That’s in 2 seasons. He inherited a program that had 15 total wins the previous five and has zero backing.

To win at USF takes a full on grass-roots grind. Coaching, scouting & development. The only thing going is location and talent pool, which isn’t as big a draw as it was pre-NIL. There is no support from admins or alumni or fans. It’s a tougher job than people think, especially in the NIL-era.
