Whatever Mr. Know it All.
I am not going to apologize for making that statement. If you are unwilling to take even a risk in which the odds are in your favor, about 49,999,999 to 1, then you should honestly just remain in a padded room.

How about we compromise. I say pay teachers more, if they are required to have a graduate degree, and have boards to pass ON PAR with bar exams. After all a poor teacher can do as much damage as a poor lawyer. Then we should consider more pay.

The NEA has gotten away with as much bullcrap as any other lobby in the US.

Hmmm. . . .care to rethink the above?

You've made some pretty baseless comments in the past, but your assessment of the need for Law Enforcement is absolutely absurd.

I am a lawyer who represents sheriffs when they get sued for professional liability. Guess based on this thread that I'm of marginal use to society, if useful at all.

I see our military didn't make the list but in todays world its pretty much useless and in times of peace the infantry is one of the few jobs where you get paid not to do your job!

Based on the thread it is basically one person's opinion though.I wouldn't sweat it LG.I wish we would hire more policemen where I live to be honest. It helps to keep tabs with the riff/raff so to speak.

Oh, I know. I don't take it personally. I think in theory everyone wishes we paid police officers and teachers $100,000 a year to get the best possible people and that we had three times as many as we do. But we don't and as a consequence I totally understand folks not having the best opinions of them as governmental employees.

P.S. I'm not Pete, whoever asked.
