USC OC Tee Martin 'disappointed' not to get interview with Tennessee

Im as much a vol as the next guy, bit did you seriously suggest he should get rid of his wife just because she prefers to live in la working on her own career rather than move to knoxville, only a stones throw from his ex and baby mama?

I'm pretty sure that you can stick a fork in her career. Tee's the one earning the dollars in that family.

Oh good, another disgruntled non vol staff article. Just waiting for the Paul Harbey rest of the story Schiano article and may as well throw in other shunned coaches. Maybe some of the "journalists" can write about who we do have on staff.

Love Tee, wish him the best, but He is not ready or qualified to be Tennessee head coach right now. He was a great recruiter from 2014, 2015, 2016 was ranked 1st in nation one time and 2nd two other years in that period. But in his two years as offensive coordinator he has not finished in the top one hundred recruiters in the country. This year he was 337th best recruiter and 38th best recruiter in his conference. So three great years as a wr coach in recruiting and two really bad recruiting years as an O.C. Do not know if this pattern will continue but it is very interesting. With more experience,Tee might get the call.

This.

What is written above, truth it is.

? This ranks up there with the Vol Faithful that wanted to hire Tyler to replace Pat?? CheeezzzzLouise.....it is a stretch to call him an OC. He "sometimes" call plays.
It is just plain silly to even have the discussion

Great point. He's not even trusted to call 3rd down plays...lol... oh and he had some mind blowing numbers as qb at Tennessee , never passed for 57% in a season. 12 TDs and 9 int his senior season. S*** let's turn over our program to a VFL that's been a suspect OC , and an average qb at best , blows my ******* mind.

Is that what you would tell your daughter? Give up on your dreams and depend on your husband even if the offer was a lateral move?

If her singing career had faded away and her husband has a shot at earning millions of dollars per year, I'd tell her to not be a drag on his career. She can continue singing from anywhere. The husband in this situation has to go where ever the next opportunity presents itself.

IMO Tee wants UT to give him an opportunity to be the UT HC job that he's not yet qualified for or earned. It won't surprise me that if he ever does get some experience as a HC at a lower level, have some success, and then have a suitable résumé... if UT were to come calling on him at that point he'd be too offended to accept. I hope that he proves me wrong, but I've just not seen much from him to indicate that he has true VFL love for UT. At least no where close to that of CJM and CPF. IMO Tee loves Tee and Tee loves attention.

If it was the head coaching job then obviously i would agree, but that wasnt going to be the case, so why uproot two careers for a lateral move?

He is already earning big money and so is she. I get it’s California. Happiness at that point matters more.

Don't be down on Tee. Coaches have to be diplomatic about other coaches. You never know who you might be working with down the road.

This sums up 99.9% of these statements. You'll never make it alone in that business. Flashback to Saban fawning over UT and Dooley post game after 40pt blowouts and taking foot off the gas late in 3rd Q.

Next.

This is emotionally poisonous, yet also pinpoint accurate. I appreciate Tee. But can you imagine how he would be viewed had he played on any team from 08-17? He would be treated like a Worley or a Simms. And heck Simms actually made it in the NFL.

I am very grateful that our admins didn't get emotional and actually turn the program over to him. While the UTAD has plenty of warts, that was not one of them.

So he's basically saying he's pissed he didn't get the job....most people don't want to bother interviewing if they never get the job or have no shot. Best thing he can do is not comment. You show more of who you are when you react as such.

Yup. Same thing with the interview for a spot on Butch's staff and with Hurd's recruitment.

He also took a job with Kiffin when Lane was toxic to every Vol fan... but it's really not right to find fault with that decision to advance his career. But... he may not have a lot of self awareness considering his douchey comments shortly afterwards that were related to Hurd's recruitment. Saying the right things is part of being a successful HC. Butch failed in that area.

Then again he was right about Hurd...

If Tee Martin wanted to be at Tennessee, he would have accepted the job offered a few years ago. I believe from Kiffin.

His wife is part of the filthy Music Industry, and he is NOT leaving Los Angeles.

He even said THE BEST JOB is OC at USC, besides the HC at USC. He does not view Tennessee as his "dream job". He needs more experience before he goes to a HC at a TOP Power 5 school.
