Urban Meyer

This is all true. And I think that with the talent he has this year Meyer's offense wil be even more about timing. Thing is, it is really built on mismatches. Getting our speedy guys isolated with a 4.6 linebacker. If that happens, there's no jamming because he blows right by and its a TD.

I don't think this is why the offense works, in theory. I mean, EVERY single offensive coordinator in the country looks for mismatches. They ALWAYS plan to have 4.4 RBs covered by 4.6 LBs, and slot WRs covered by a nickel back, and 4.5 TEs covered by LBs. This is nothing new.

I've said this in another post, but man the oline of the gators is their secret. They were young last season and did so well a 2 nd string qb who came in with e1 knowing it was a qb draw, and he still gets it done. This year the line is another year mature and they're confident in Tebow. It's gonna be a great game, Nebraska game tape shouyld be in the gameplan during Gator week.

If said LB can get his hands on him within 5 yards, then the WR should be ragdolled.

SEC DC's weren't stupid enough to drop 6 guys into coverage and not bring any heat. It's like OSU said "how can I design a defense so that Florida will have maximum sucess with their offense which is 90% screen passes, draws, and hitches?" edit: and let's make sure not to blitz a qb who is easily rattled!

This is exactly my point. That game plan was like the opposite of what you should do. Ohio State did a great job of making Leak look like Joe Montana... That is why I say the original question this thread posed is laughable. tOSU IMO gave U of F fans a false sense of confidence in Urbans offense. If he starts to be more run oriented with his QB (which he will with Tebow) he may (Tebow) get worn down. He certainly will feel pain during the SEC mid season grind.

Agreed. There was a stat about Urban's offense not scoring more than 28 points on SEC defenses.

People still argue with me whenever I say that. Tebow may end up being great, and he might make it through a year unscathed, but unless they are really careful with him, I just about guarantee you that somewhere in the next 3 years he is going to get lit up and miss a few games.

Personally - Meyer's offense got saved by the D in almost every game. It's easy to put up points with a short field...how many of those defensive palyers return for next seasen?

I like the way Tebow runs. (At least, if you set aside the lizard on his helmet I do.) I just wouldn't want my starting quarterback putting his head down like that.

You have to assume they will be more careful with him once he's more than just a change-of-pace coming in off the bench.

agreed. and he still hasn't proven he can throw the ball in obvious passing situations. Those expecting the gators to light it up next season (particurally early in the season) are likely to be disapointed.

I actually think he's going to be able to throw it around better than people think. It wasn't like Chris Leak was exactly standing back there with a cannon.

I think - like some people have already alluded to - the big adjustment for Florida is that they are actually going to have to score a little more with all the people they lost off that defense.

yeah but leak was accurate. tebow has a better arm certainly.

Tebow may improve but he did not have a better arm than Leak last year. And Leak's arm isn't terrible.

Leak has a much better and quicker release plus better accuracy.

UF won with a great defense. Ten or 11 out the two deep on their D are gone. Leak was much better prepared and equipped to carry a young defense than Tebow is.

UT and Fulmer should beat UF this year in G'ville.

Telling you. Leak's arm isn't as weak as some think and Tebow's isn't as good. Tebow has brute strength but his throwing motion isn't good.

Maybe so . . . but Leak's throwing motion wasn't very good either. He had a really loopy motion and tended to wrap the ball around his head.
