Upon further review, Jeremy Pruitt is wisely handling offensive coordinator search

Man, BVS is bad for some of you guys. This isnt Currie handing out job offers. Nobody will know anything until its announced, if you havent figured out by now that Pruitt controls all info coming out of his program, and by that I mean he doesnt let anything out, then i dont really know what to tell you guys other than lay off the salty snacks until the hire is announced, help keep the blood pressure down.
Currie wasn't the issue, Haslam was. None of us know what is going on on any layer of this onion. Fans that aren't suspicious, or less than confident, after the last ten years around here are idiots.

Difference of opinion. You saw the same team I saw. Played well against Auburn and UK. Auburn is, well...Auburn, and UK was overrated. Bennie and the Cats. UT was outclassed, heavily, by the good teams they played. And Mizzou. And Vandy.

Did coaching play a role? Yes. But it was apparent to all that UT simply lacks the horses to run with SEC talent. Considering that Pruitt had to work with a roster populated with BJ's recruits, hard for me to call that an "excuse". More like a handicap.

He gets 4 years with me. We'll know more next season, and even more the season after, but the '21 Vols will tell us what we have for a HC. I expect, as most do, improvement next year, and then the year after, and then the year after.

It's not about whether you or I are right or wrong. Differing opinions, but we're both Vol fans. We both want to win.

So does Pruitt. To steal a quote from Bill Parcells, let him buy the groceries before you bitch about the meal.

Go Vols.
Pruitt gets unlimited years with me. Because I have no influence on those types of decisions.
UT actually did have the players to run with sec talent. I know, because I watched them do it. Pruitt failed to have the team ready to play in several games. I dont care what excuses are offered. It's his team and he is responsible for their overall performance or lack thereof.
I dont like how he spoke publicly about the players. And some one saying saban did it doesnt make it right. It didnt appear that it worked out for him this year. Perhaps he learns more effective methods in the future.

Not according to most recruits and the top recruiters. But what do they know.

Regardless of how Kiffin’s lone recruiting class here turned out, it was top ten nationally. How many of those kids came here based on their relationship with Kiffin/Orgeron & company? There are countless other examples, I promise.

You're a solid poster, and I know I'm not going to change your mind (or you mine), but it's an interesting dialogue from opposing sides of the fence. So...

We'll know in 4 years. Maybe 3.

Yes, Pruitt and his staff have some learning to do. He's a new head coach. His track record says he'll eventually get it.

We disagree on UT's talent level. SEC level UT buries UTEP and Charlotte, in Knoxville, on talent alone. They didn't. Those games were clues. The afore-mentioned losses, especially to Vandy, were the smoking gun. Our talent is simply not good enough for the SEC. Yet. Why some fans cannot see this escapes me.

I can make the case that he should, or should not have, called out his players publicly. He chose to do so. He will live with the results of that brutal, public honesty. At least he was honest. Having competed for, and made, two SRT teams...and then failing to make the cut for a 3rd (in my defense, I was 47), I can tell you that sometimes being told you are not good enough hurts. But it is what it is.

I don't think Pruitt models himself after Saban. I think they just happen to be like-minded. And I'm good with that.

Again, Go Vols.

I agree. I don't get why some are getting so bent out of shape. This is probably the easiest coaching search we've had. Im enjoying the heck out of it.

If you want to knock a fan who wants an OC hire that gives recruits a thrill and opponents the shivers, I'm your Huckleberry. But hush. I prolly go along to get along.

Maybe he’s seen a lot of winning football the past decade and noticed he couldn’t polish a turd.

Or maybe he has never seen a team not stocked with superior talent and didnt know how to overcome it. Either way, players are leaving Tennessee with a coach that told them they suck and there was nothing he could do to help it, and fans support it, disgusting.

When you have fallen as far as Tennessee has, many of the better up and coming coaches will avoid the very difficult job of trying to rebuild a program so far down in talent.
Pruitt has an extremely difficult job in trying to rebuild this once proud football program, make no mistake:(

I don’t see all the gloom and doom. Oline was terrible. Defense looked decent at times considering freshman cb’s and front four that has never been productive since they got here. New systems all the way around. A qb under a new system that could have been way better w threat of a run game due to awful Oline. Made some rookie head coach mistakes, but that will improve like everything else. Need a couple top ten recruiting classes and you’ll be glad we got this coach.

I dont get how you think a realistic assessment, whether you agree or not, is doom and gloom.

Ok. Sounded depressing that young kids were being told they suck and are now deciding to take their talents elsewhere. I have a feeling Pruitt is helping pack their bags. Need room to get 25 recruits. Small number of seniors leaving this cycle.

It’s hard to know considering we have no idea who the OC is and who Pruitt’s talking to. The only thing I’ve learned is that so called insiders have no clue like the rest of us.

Doesnt affect me emotionally at all, just dislike that aspect of pruitts coaching. It is a shame that fans view the kids that committed to play football here, that way. All in the name of a coach that makes 3 mil a year and has yet to do anything for the university yet.

If we don’t start ....ing winning soon, it won’t matter anyway because we’ll be watching Georgia and Florida celebrate playing in the SEC championship for the next 30 years.

You said it was disgusting.
