Upon further review, Jeremy Pruitt is wisely handling offensive coordinator search

Well, that was a logical, articulate, well reasoned article. Thats why it is likely to go over here like a lead balloon. If VN's negavols and pollyannas werent continually taking turns running around with their hair on fire and telling us how much more they know about football than people who are paid to coach, how would Freak make the payments on his G-6?

I think most fans simply don’t trust the administration to make the right decisions after the last head coaching and even assistant hires.

Most fans trust Saban to do the right thing because it always seems to work out. Tennessee has been rebuilding for as long as I can remember and fans are tired of botched hires, going cheap, boosters blocking hires, and perhaps friends being hired over maybe the best candidate.

I am encouraged because Pruitt is interviewing and gauging interest from a lot of top offensive minds but he also has to make sure it aligns with his philosophy and long term goals. Staff comradely is also very important.

Pruitt can’t fire the entire offensive staff just to accommodate Briles. When Kiffin took over as OC at Bama, Saban didn’t fire all of his coaches. He had his coaches learn from the OC so he could promote within.

There are also buyouts to consider and future hires. Pruitt can’t fire coaches every time he brings in a new OC because Briles could leave in 2 years for a HC position, if successful, and Pruitt is hiring again. What coaches would want to work for someone who isn’t loyal to them.

I will hold off my judgement until we see how everything plays out.

So Pruitt should forego any and all recruiting advantages by waiting after signing day to hire an unknown coach that he found by googling stats. Got it , sounds reasonable.
The point of the article is to tell you to calm down. This isnt Currie running around playing job offer roulette, pruitt is interviewing a group of candidates. This is how proper hiring happens. Calm down Francis.

I have no problem with the process.
I have to keep my opinion on the results of the process to myself until it becomes public. I trust Pruitt and Fulmer but not the BOD.

My hair is ALWAYS on fire. That's why use Head & Smolders shampoo.

Guess this will continue until someone is announced in the future at some point?

Day 1: Pruitt and Fulmer know what they want and will get a good OC, no worries on timeline.
After week 1: Hire someone or anyone now! Completely botched Freeze. We can't do anything right!
After week 1: Pruitt knows what he's doing. Give him time.
Two weeks and counting: Going on two weeks and our idiots are letting all the good hires go somewhere else.

Today: Patience is a virtue. Pruitt is wise. Recruiting is more important.

Nothing should help filling those final 6 to 8 spots or whatever they can add in recruits like recruits not having a clue what kind of offense Pruitt plans to run. 🙄

Just because you are impatient and cant see the forest for the trees doesnt mean we are wrong, it just means that if the media says it, you think orange is pronounced the same as gullible.

Because they read message boards to know that, not ask the coach that is sitting across from them. If they have built a relationship with him enough for them to trust him with their development as a player, they trust his choice in position coach. It's not always about the biggest name. But sure, you just know more than others.

not impatient... just pointing out the humor of schizophrenia on the process w/ media and fan boards. I really don't care how long it takes, and have regularly said that I feel Pruitt/Fulmer will get someone who will do a good job... and I'm certainly allowed to enjoy the humor of the process, even if those trees are in the way of the forest.

For some of us, "you had me at day 1".

Sorry, just tired of seeing people like CAvol, and other negavols, acting like Tennessee has literally offered every single person that has been connected and was told by each one that Tennessee is a job nobody wants.

I agree with the writer that players commit to coaches, but players also want to know what kind of offense the team plans to run. The type of offense also dictates the type of players you recruit. The media and VN have reported several names of potential interviewees with differing offensive philosophies.

Yeah because when he promotes Will Friend and announces it a the last possible minute, no one can freak out about it and demand someone else.
Man, BVS is bad for some of you guys. This isnt Currie handing out job offers. Nobody will know anything until its announced, if you havent figured out by now that Pruitt controls all info coming out of his program, and by that I mean he doesnt let anything out, then i dont really know what to tell you guys other than lay off the salty snacks until the hire is announced, help keep the blood pressure down.

Official updates, even if they are "we continue to look at every candidate", would be nice.
