Just reading around, and it seems everybody wants Blackburn, including fans, former players, boosters, and some in the administration. I have been reading a lot of people mention that the new chancellor is holding up the process and actually blocked the Blackburn hire from happening sooner. A lot of talk over limiting anybody who has ties to the Title XI lawsuit. However, I do not believe that. She was just hired and I imagine she needs to wrap things up at Cincinnati before focusing attention to Tennessee. Also, I could see her not making such a rash move before she even starts and going along with more of what everyone around her wants for AD. The only thing I could see is if she wants them to wait until she can at least be a part of the search and help make the decision after her due diligence.

We have to get Blackburn, there are few times when you have an opening and a person who is a perfect fit. Someone who can not only get it done as an AD but loves Tennessee as well. I hope this University does not screw up something so simple and easy. Go get Blackburn!

Atlanta Vol, do you still believe it will be Blackburn as AD even with all of these rumors? If Tennessee effs this up so help us all and I don't like the chancellor hire either.

Exactly and that's why I do not believe a lot of people mentioning her name associated with the AD as of now. That may change once she is finally approved by the Board and starts, but until then I do not think she has much pull or influence on this search. Honestly, I would not allow someone coming in to make such a significant decision without having any time at Tennessee yet, I know she will be the chancellor, but this should be a job where the administration and boosters provides her the right guy (Blackburn) and she simply signs off on it.

Why the hell an AD has NOT been hired yet?? Obviously everyone wants Blackburn, so why hasn't it happened yet??

Probably wait till Hart leaves and will make a Sh@tty emergency hire on the Cheap like always!! :banghead2:

I've been thinking the same thing. If Blackburn is the "for sure" hire then why delay it? Is Blackburn under contract that prevents him from leaving his current role at this time?

Because they will **** it up and hire an AD who will go and try to hire someone like Larry Fedora.

I have no idea how it works, but I think it is the fact that we cannot "hire" an AD without a chancellor in place. Now I do not understand why that means Cheek cannot just sign off on it right now, or maybe some big boosters have an issue with Blackburn. I have seen it mentioned that Anderson does not want Blackburn.

Does anybody have any updates?

It's just my opinion but I think they are waiting until UTC football is done with the playoffs before they announce any changes to the AD.

This is correct. However I can tell you that its not a rumor at all it is already in motion. I can also tell you it is exactly what this program needs to help shape the future of the program.

CPF is spearheading this effort internally and has already been having discussions with quite a few people on who will be involved and in what capacity.

Still look that they will hire him too btw?

Will happen most likely in December. If it is Blackburn it likely won't be announced until Chattanooga finishes the football playoffs. As alluded to by others there is some internal struggle going on over Blackburn. The timing is not as critical as the fans seem to think. Butch, unless he leaves on his own, will be our coach next year. Period.

The hiring of new Chancellor is to be approved by Board on December 15. Her official start date is March 1. The transition with Cheek is to begin in Jan. Someone else's posted that she intended to make AD hire herself and not delegate to anyone else. Due to importance of Title 9 settlement, this seems logical approach. Board meeting should be open meeting so more will be known then.

I compare a bunch of posters around here to a chihuahua dog. Always yapping like they're a badazz, while everyone around just looks at them and laughs.
