Hearing some potential coaches scared off by rebuild at Tenn next yr. But Vols have length, depth at guard that could fit into right system.

All teams have to replace talent, at least every 4 years. In some cases, every year.

I want a coach who can recruit talent to UT, not one who runs because he has to recruit.

It was a complete rebuild. Huggins was fired/forced to resign three months before the previous which caused many players to transfer, decommit. Kennedy did a good job as interim coach and overachieved given the circumstances and was the fans choice to take over full time. That infuriated the fan base even more, and a lot of them chose to stay away. Cronin actually had to scrum up football players to be on the team so that they could have full roster. It wasn't pretty.

You can understand Whites hesitancy

He can stay at LT 1 more year, which likely has a better team than Tennessee ATM, and land a much better job.

I told y'all this job was now toxic. And now it appears I'm being proven right. We can't get a third year HC from Louisiana Freaking Tech - who has no tournament appearances by the way - to come here for double (or so) what he is making in a conference USA hellhole.

The coaches are talking. And we are going to have to overpay for someone who has 1/3 of CCMs credentials.

What's really hilarious is the delusional crowd that thinks we could pull a Marshall or Smart. Laughable.

Now it's a race to the bottom! How low will we have to go, and what will it cost? My guess...someone who has never won a tournament game of any kind, who has never recruited a 4* player, and who we will have to overpay by at least 500k versus their value.

White not taking it would have nothing to do with the job being toxic. Everything has to be so dramatic here. His next head coaching move is likely to be when Kennedy is gone and he's gone after next year.

What does it say about Dave Hart's decision making or negotiation skills if he can't get a snot-nosed kid from a backwater school like La Tech to bolt and lose the deal over a buyout clause among?

How committed is Tennessee to basketball? Not at all.

This guy's entire family is like a who's who of athletic directors.

If he wants a buy-out that Hart doesn't think is fair to Tennessee, you move on and go to the next guy.

Seems to me, from what's being reported, he said yes to working here, but we can't agree to details of him potentially leaving here.

But I'm sure more chicken littles will storm in and say UT is garbage and we deserve all we get cause we wronged Cuonzone.

I survived Wade Houston. I can survive not getting White.

it's the WAY he did it. he needed a search committee or a search firm with some REAL basketball people to advise him. He's just trying to go it all alone and that's just a BAD decision. heck, some search firms might open doors that we DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT. How stupid will we look if we make a Mid-Major hire and Mizzouri hits a home run and both jobs are basically on the same level (4-6th in SEC)...

Mizzou is using a firm.. let's see how this turns out.

Not at all. He wanted more security from Hart in the buyout, that would suggest he wasn't planning on going anywhere next year.

Mizzou's Mike Alden is not using a search committee. He is dong the same asHart.
